View Full Version : Never Thought I would be able to say this!

I think back to the dozen or so years that I grounded myself after my "skeeery flight" and never ever thought I would get to this level of flying. :nono
I have officially hit 100K miles now between the 5 airlines I have flown on since January of this year. More than half of those are on Delta which finally knocked me into Silver Medallion status with them. Now if I could only transfer the miles from American, Northwest, Alaskan and trade in my SWA flights then I would be GOLD on Delta! :banana
Never ever ever did I see myself flying that much in a year (well not even 10 months actually) but if I can toot my own horn for just a second then TOOOOOOOOT! :band
Thanks for letting me share! I never could have done this without all of the support you guys have given. :grouphug

just a quiet acknowledgment, Kelley, of a dragon met and conquered.

Courage is its own reward.
Ever seen that poem by Amelia Earhart titled 'Courage'?

Horn tooting is encouraged on this board!
Happy for ya!

Hardly an inspiration but just proof that it can be done. Ken surpasses me in miles and is another testament to the "mind over matter" part of dealing with the fear. The fear never ever goes away but you can learn to manage it. The more you fly the more routine flying is.
2 flights tomorrow on CRJs. I am just slightly apprehensive but know I will be fine (because my favorite pilot told me so!).
Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I need to look up that poem, Barb.

Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace.
The soul that knows it not knows no release
From little things;
Knows not the livid loneliness of fear,
Nor mountain heights where bitter joy can hear
The sound of wings.
How can life grant us boon of living, compensate
For dull gray ugliness and pregnant hate
Unless we dare the soul's dominion?
Each time we make a choice, we pay
With courage to behold the restless day,
And count it fair.

(Another example the "Power of Shopping" holds over some people. Someone told Kelley that accumulating frequent flyer miles was like getting a special "sale price" at your favorite store. From that day forward, she was hooked!:nod )

Toot away!
Isn't it great how each flight makes you look forward to the next? It's almost like you HAVE to fly to keep "score" of how you're doing.
It's not us who support you -- it's all of us in the same boat (plane)
