Well, I flew from coast-to-coast and back without incident. Nor did I end up taking the Ativan I had packed! I was surprisingly calm on the flights out there - for some reason I was more jittery on the flights home, but I attribute that to general well-being (or lack thereof) than anything else. Funny, though...you kind of expect that if things go well on the way there, they'll be as good, if not better, on the way back. But I've read a number of times on here that that is often not the case.

I do credit my son as playing a huge role in my lack of anxiety - he was a major distraction, given his age (toddler).

Of course, there's part of me that's relieved to have it "over with" but I know now, thanks to this board, that the way to keep up the positive momentum is to continue flying! So, I'll be sure my next flight is sooner rather than later.

Thank you all so much for helping me get to this point!

I can't think of any BETTER advice! It was my best tool to neutralize 99% of my FOF!

Thats one of the things I love best about this site...If you had not read about this before your flight you might think

(sorry my quotes are not working)

Uh oh...Why am I feeling so bad now that I`ve had one good flight... I must not have done this right. I`m the only one who will never get over this fear. I`m going backwards...I`m doomed! What was that noise the plane just made (end of quote...)

When really you are experiencing a normal part of returning to flying and the `let down`we often feel when we are coming home after a great trip and a great flight to our trip...

Congrats! You did great, and you`re well on your way!

Congratulations, i too suffered from the return flight wobbles after an initial good flight. I found because i was comfy going out i just took it for granted i was cured so let my flight preperation slip for the homeward flight. This is a common thing but it does get easier and eventually you do become a comfortable flyer, you still need to put the effort into overcoming the fear in, but you are well on your way to beating it.

Congratulations, you did it!

I often have more jitters on the way home too, fairly common I think.
