Hey all! Sorry about the delayed trip report. I know you were all waiting with baited breath!

Anyway, I left at the crack of dawn the 17th for Boston. I really do prefer morning flights as I don't have time to get worked up AND the lack of sleep plus xanax makes it more likely that I'll sleep on the plane. The first leg of my trip was from BNA to ORD on an ERJ. We took off on time and were soon cruising along. I love those zippy little planes. I had had a fight with my family the day before, so I was feeling like it would be horrible for me to die in a plane crash, but I tried to not let those thoughts get to me as we cruised. That flight is very short tho, so before I knew it we were landing at ORD. After a quick stop at McD's (sausage biscuit) I was settling in at the gate. I had tried to get an upgrade in BNA for the flight, but was told there weren't any. Man, was I ticked when someone (with obviously higher status than I) got one. But oh well. They assured me there was no one in the seat next to me (I had the window) on the MD-80, so I let it go. The woman on the aisle must have been told there was no one in the middle seat either, cos she got on board after me and plopped her stuff in the middle seat. Imagine our surprise when a BIG guy came in, plopped into the middle seat, and started to raise the armrests to give himself more room, without even asking. Well, it was early and I'm always wearing my cranky pants that early, so I plopped my elbow on the armrest and plunked it back down. I probably would have said yes if he'd asked, but come on, how rude! Much worse than reclining the seat! So, thus began a battle of about 2 hours with me having to hold the arm rest down while dosing and listening to my MP3 player. Grrrr. Luckily, it did take my mind off the flight, which was smooth as silk.

My next flight was on Tuesday the 19th at 7pm from BOS to LGA, a quickie, but one with my boss in tow. Never a good thing. We left for the airport super early because the conference we attended was a bust. We got to Logan and stood in line to check in. We get to the front of the line and they tell us we have to schlep down to the American Eagle counter, which seems like 5 miles away. Oh, and did I mention I was towing our frickin' exhibit booth? Mr. Boss Man couldn't do it because of back problems (legit), so here I am, 118 pounds, with about 120 pounds of luggage. Can you say "Sky Cap" boys and girls? Do you think I can expense a massage? Anyway, so we get down there and they say we can go on the 6:00 pm flight. Eeek! On the one hand, I'm happy about this...I get in earlier, get to relax, eat, etc. earlier. On the other hand, what if my xanny don't kick in in time? We take the 6 pm flight and are delayed by a half hour. I'm totally chilling in a row by myself on the ERJ by that time. I get in to LGA, get to the hotel, grab a BLT from the deli down the street and call it a night.

The next day I do another (lame) conference and head to the airport. On the way, AA's automated system calls to tell me there's a 45 minute delay. Small wonder. I've taken this 8:15 flight maybe 10-12 times. It's been cancelled for basically no reason 4 times, and delayed every other time. I get to the airport, check in, get an upgrade, a pretzel and settle in for the wait. I talk to my high school best friend who is getting married this weekend for a while, then just hang out. The flight boards about an hour and a half late. I kick back in my first class seat and wait for take off. Finally, we're off. The 10,000 foot bell dings and the "It's now safe to use portable electronic devices" announcement starts. Suddenly, the captain interrrupts. I'm sure we're having a problem and are about to either go down or back to the airport (a la my Bermuda flight.) He gives us the score (Red Sox up by 4 over the Yankees). I squash my indignation over nearly crapping my pants, and settle back in. I get my warm nuts (love the warm nuts) and some ginger ale and snooze for most of the very smooth flight. Home again, home again, jiggety jig.

Those are the last flights I know about until December. 34 segments since February, and still going strong.

All the best,

Ice

Hooray Ice! Sounds like you had some interesting but routine flights. Sorry I missed you in BNA. Next time for sure!

I'm so envious that you can snooze...I would have to stretch out on the people next to me...bet that would go over well. I can never get comfortable.
Thanks for the report.

I love all the food parts of your report. I envision you as this teeny little person, and it seems like every other line is, "and then I grabbed some biscuits and gravy.." "so then I got a sausage mcmuffin..." "and I had my BLT and.."

I'm a big eater, but I can't eat when I fly. My trip report will say, "so I had another diet coke..." "And then I had a diet coke..."

spiffy:dunno "Where do the calories go?"

Great report Ice! That's a lot of flights in a short time but it sounds like you handled everything really well. I would have reacted the same way if the pilot had come on to make an announcement at that point! :lol
