Today is the big day. I have been nervous, but very busy getting things ready. I just missed a call on my cell from my mother. Now mind you, she can be a worry wart, but she has NEVER done this before. The voicemail sounded ominous and she said she was just thinking of me and wanted to tell me she loves me. Like I said, her voice was not strong.
I know..but this is freaking me out. Never has she done this...why today....rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Does she know you have a fear of flying? If so, it could be the motherly instinct in her of taking care of you and keeping you safe. :)
It's no more of a sign than anything else. They are completely unrelated. You can do it! We all know that, and you know that. Don't let the fear win!

Well, did you call her back? ;) Maybe she just wanted to give you a bit of encouragement, if she knew you were nervous about the flight.

I don't know if she knows..we have never really discussed it. I called her back, she just wanted me to know she was thinking about me. I tried to play it somewhat cool so I couldn't go too deep, but I did say it seemed weird and now I am a little concerned.
I don't know if she has a fear, I know she has only flown once, when we all went to Florida back in 77.
I am so mad at the world right now for being in this situation. Hell, I have even thought about calling my boss and quitting. Now that is way extreme. Just sharing where i am at.

Well, right this moment probably isn't the time to explore what happened on that flight in more detail with her. It might be an interesting conversation with your Mom WHEN YOU GET BACK FROM THIS FLIGHT. Maybe there's a "missing piece of the puzzle" there.

We've had many posters here who say they want to get over FoF so their children don't have the same fear. It seems possible that even if parents don't TELL their children they are afraid, there's a psychic bond between parents and children...so the children may pick up on the fear anyway (or vice versa).

Gotcha Barb!
I don't remember anything negative, unless you consider Tiny Tim being on the ATL-MCO leg as such..lol!
MCO is Orlando, correct?
Off to EVV.. I will try to log on out there. If not, any tracking would be greatly appreciated.

C'mon, Hoosier! Your mom doesn't have a crystal ball, and even if she did, well, she's probably not psychic.
Chalk it up to coincidence, fly, and tell us all about your success.

Got it..I am at EVV now. Very cloudy with a low visability. No rain but low ceiling.
I just realized I have to make it and get my work done this weekend so I can watch the Colts game Sunday night.
I will report from Texas tonight.

There you go...already looking ahead to when you are finished with the trip, and back home and ready to relax!!
By the way, you owe us a limerick. I hope you will think of one for us while you are in the air. :D

Well, since I used the word "psychic"...perhaps I should clarify...I didn't mean it in the "predict the future crystal ball" sense. But rather the idea that when two people know each other well and are on "the same wavelength", they may be able to accurately guess (and respond to) how the other is feeling in a given situation. Like Scott said...about the motherly instinct to care for and protect...

Obviously I made it...yipeeee..feel pretty silly for the way I have felt the last few days about this trip. Great flight. I have posted my report. I typed most of it while I was en route.
I have a good friend who loves limericks. I haven't ever really tried any, but let me get settled down here and I will give one a shot. Long day and I haven't slept well the last few days so I am going to get some rest tonight.
Good night from Texas!

:tiphat::tiphat:We knew you could do it! :tiphat::tiphat:
And the ground (well, air) you've gained will not likely be lost.
Keep exploring new airlines and new airports!
Looking forward to the limerick!

Congratulations, keep on flying:):):)
No matter how old you are you will always be your mothers child. My son is still at home but whenever he goes to another country, I ring him at the airport, insist he rings me when he arrives etc etc, he thinks I have lost the plot!!!! He is 36!

So how was the 145? Was I right about it being OK once you got on board and settled in? (Inquiring minds want to know...) Every time I fly something "new" (to me) I have a bit of anxiety too. I've learned not to let it get to me now, but it still rears it's head every once in a while. I guess my monster likes to try and get me with "new" things because I've flown enough to convince myself everything's going to be fine when it does pop into my mind on a "regular" flight (737's for me too, or Airbuses...)
Now you know you can fly on 145's and 737's! Good stuff!:D
