Hi guys, I'm a new member to the forum and I'm trying to find a way to sort out my flying phobia. I've been looking at a program for the last few days that seems to be OK but I'm not sure about it. Has anyone used it?
It's called takeoff today and the review I read for it was here http://www.overcomethefearofflying.org
Has anybody on the forum tried it or know if it works? I need to get on a plane in the next few weeks and needless to say I'm bricking it! I just want to find some way to sort myself out so I don't embarrass myself at the airport :(

Hi hobbes, and :welcome2:
As an active member here who has purchased and used MANY resources related to aviation and fear of flying (see list in our Links and Resources), I'm always interested in checking out new ones. I have not seen this one before, so don't have any personal experience to share of its quality or effectiveness.
I read through the material at the link you posted, and the first thing that caught my eye was the endorsement from Jeffrey Skiles (co-pilot of US Airways Flt. 1549).
Reading through the descriptive information, it sounds like the program covers the important areas of learning more about aviation and flying, and how to deal with anticipatory anxiety.
Without seeing/using the actual program, it's hard to know if it lives up to the advertised promise.
I do find it misleading to see pictures of books (manuals) and Cds advertised, as it gives the impression that you will be receiving books and CDs. I would expect a program that provides you with books and CDs would cost more than one which is downloadable.
A money-back guarantee makes more sense when the seller doesn't have to deal with returns of possibly damaged/worn products.
At the very end, in text that is lighter than the rest, is this:
"NOTE: The Takeoff Today Program is an instantly downloadable program. No physical products will be shipped. After you order, you will get INSTANT ACCESS to download the e-book onto your computer. The format is Adobe Acrobat" PDF, QuickTime, and mp3, which can be viewed on Mac or PC.
So, hobbes, if you try this out, please let us know what you think of it.
We do recommend www.anxieties.com (http://www.anxieties.com) for some free help, and please feel free to read through the archives here for tips and stories from TF members.

Just curious, hobbes, are you actually "Amy"? I see in your "public profile" here that you've listed your home page as her blog. In which case, you already know all about Rich's program. ;)

Nope, just stuck it in as a (hopefully!!) useful website to share :) I have actually just bought a website that I'm going to try to use to promote my freelance writing projects on soon - I am just waiting on finding the right person to do my web design :) In actual fact, it could be a good idea to put on my profile my own website in case any of you guys ever need any work done!
At the moment it is just an empty site though :)
