I got an email today from SWA regarding updating customer information so that our names on our ID's match our names on our boarding passes and SWA accounts. Since a number of us fly SWA, and I believe we discussed this here awhile ago, here's the link for reference: http://www.southwest.com/travel_center/tsa_secureflight.html

I'm thinking I'm about due for a flight on SWA...it's been 6 months...and I saw an "omen" today...couldn't ask for a stronger "sign" that it's time to go flying (especially considering that today was the first tiny bit of rain we've had in San Diego in more than 3 months). :D Destination...somewhere...over the rainbow...

Wow, Barb, is that your photo? It's spectacular!:tiphat:

I updated my SWA account late last night (as in before midnight; it's now 2:30 AM). I tried to do it earlier, right when the notification was sent out, as I happened to be at my computer, but I guess the site was jammed with responses.

Indeed it is...:D...thank you. I had some errands to do down near SAN yesterday around 5PM, and I noticed we were having some lovely clouds (remnants of a storm off the coast of Baja), so put my camera in the car...just in case I was inspired to do a little plane-spotting when my errands were done. I no sooner had parked my car at my favorite viewing spot when the rainbow appeared...what are the odds? It wasn't raining...just had a few sprinkles. It was so nice that a SWA airplane "posed" for me...they have the best colors for this shot. I like flying SWA (and have fond memories of 2 FlightFests with behind the scenes tours at SWA which helped me conquer FoF).

The rainbow disappeared shortly after I took the photo...hence my sense of "omen"....;) (though I know usually "omen-talk" here is about "Negative Omens"...this one is a reminder that one can look for "Positive Omens" too...:)). .

Hmmm...off to Google looking for "rainbow omen"... http://www.khandro.net/nature_rainbows.htm ...lots of ways to interpret it...I always feel happy, and lucky, when I see a rainbow, so I take it as a good sign.

I agree, Barb, great photo!

It probably wasn't a good idea that SWA send out an email to all their RR or ticketed members on the same day. Appears the mass of responses crashed their site. I tried several times yesterday afternoon and evening and the site "unavailable" message box came up each time.

Works fine today; just updated both of us.

We got a similar email from AirTran about a month ago, probably since we were booked for 9/20.

This info must be for behind-the-scenes checking by TSA. For our AirTran boarding passes only had our First/Last Names and no gender or B-Day info.

Barb, you might want to submit that photo to the SWA inflight magazine Spirit.

As long as we are noticing how photogenic the SWA planes are...near sunset yesterday I went out to the tip of Harbor Island and caught this SWA plane taking off, illuminated by the last rays of the setting sun (20 min. before sunset). Those clouds weren't as ominous (or as big) as they look in the photo (no, they aren't flying into a thunderstorm). It's just sunset lighting on some fairly small clouds. I'll bet it was a nice view from the windows of the plane. :)
