Okay Guys....

I need some help here.

Here's the situation: Lots of you know that I have a son (Nicholas) stationed in Phoenix, which is why I go out there so frequently. What I just found out when he was home for The Baby's christening a few weeks ago is that the reason his girlfriend, Dawn, doesn't go out to visit him is because she's afraid to fly. Aha! A new victim for me to play with!!

So, as my latest quest, I've been trying to help her as best I can. She's armed with Ray's book, which she's been "studying", and talking her ear off. Dawn absolutely, without a doubt, wants to get over this. (We all know that feeling!) Not having computer access is difficult, but when she's over here, I kinda force her to read the posts of those of you (us) who've flown, thinking they couldn't. The thing that struck her the most was the fact that she's not alone!!! She'd thought she was the ONLY one in the world who was in this predicament.

Well, I'm going out again November 9th, and got a ticket for her, too. (Surprise, also for Nicholas, who doesn't know) I think it scared holy hell out of her when I told her, but it just may be the nudge she needs. She WANTS to go, but she's not convinced that she can do this.

That's where all of you come in.

I've been printing out posts for her that I think would help, and I thought it'd be helpful to see that there's support in here, even though she only "lurks" on occasion.

Whatdya think --- can we show our usual support for our latest "victim"??

Let's make some noise!

Hey, Dawn -- this is us at the Celebration Dinner!:cheers

First, we'll plan on having her come to lunch so she can share her sucess story with us...
I was going to suggest you print out posts and you beat me to it...Does she have Huey's list. I think posts with sucessful trip reports are good too.
Ray's book must also be packed.
Dawn, are you reading this??? You will be fine. Debbie, talked me through flying on Song and it was all through e-mail. Now, I'm a Song convert...
Having her to hold your hand will help more than you can imagine. Just picture how good you will feel once you get to where you want to be. Keep thinking about how you'll feel once you're there. Picture yourself writing a post here about how good you felt surprising your honey and addressing a fear that is getting in your way...
welcome. welcome, welcome...Monica:coffee

Dawn's going to be over tomorrow, and I'm going to print out your "welcomes" for her.

Forgot to mention that we're meeting JamieAllison for dinner tomorrow night. She'll be a helluva inspiration for Dawn, having come as far as she has!

It's all about support, really, isn't it? :grouphug Funny thing is, this flying with a new fearful thing may be just the ticket. I haven't given any thought to the fact that I'M flying too! This may be a new cure: Fly with someone who's more fearful than you, and you're so busy with them, you forget about your own!:wired

What a great thing! Thank you all.:tiphat

Deb, you're making me blush! :blush

I can't imagine her needing any more inspiration than you, but I'm really looking forward to meeting her and hope that I can help.

By the way, is :anon coming to dinner?

Jamie
