Hello All,
I am sure many of you have read some of my posts. I'm Scott. I live in Orlando, Florida and am sort of a Fearful Flyer turned Aviation Evangelical, as Bard likes to say.
I thought I would mention something that I think might me of use to some of you who would like to learn a bit more about airplanes. As I am sure you can tell by my posts, my personal experience leads me to believe that knowledge is indeed power when it comes to a fear of Flying. I happen to agree strongly with Ray on that point. While I know it is not the only tool in the chest, I believe it can really help!
Top that end, if anyone if planning a trip to Florida to see the Mouse in the spring, might I suggest a detour to Lakeland (about 45 minutes west) for a day or so. Evey year, Lakeland Linder airport hosts the second-largest fly-in in the country. It's more than an airshow, it's basically a week-long event where thousands of planes come into the airport. There are air-shows of course, but also seminars, displays, stores, food, and lots of us pilot guys to talk to.
For myself and my friends, the week is sortof a religious experience. After all, it combines two of my favorite things, beer and airplanes, both in large quantities. (Though we do refrain from drinking the former while flying the latter).
Anyway, all of you are welcome! And if you think climbing aound a cockpit and asking "What's this doo-dad?" questions may help a little bit, I will be happy to meet you and answer those kinds of questions.
Although the fly-in is a BLAST, you don't have to wait until April if you happen to be coming to Central Florida before then. Let me know if you're coming this way. I almost always have access to airplanes, and I will be happy to meet you and answer any questions you may have.
Here's a link to the web-site for the fly-in if anyone wants to check it out.

Have a great one!
