Last year I took a flight from JFK to Pisa which was very turbulent (setting me back with my fears). Someone told me that this route tends to be bumpy as we go over Newfoundland and as we descend into Pisa. Can someone tell me if this is true? Should I prepare myself for another bumpy ride?

Should I prepare myself for another bumpy ride?
Hi Gates, and :welcome2:
I have no experience with that route.
In general, you will feel less motion from turbulence if you get a seat just over or in front of the wings. I also prefer a window seat, and find looking out the window during turbulence to be helpful. I also use calming breaths and muscle relaxation "tools".
When is your flight?

Comming from the top of the world you are more likely to run into jet streams. We try to get into the good ones as 150 Kts of tailwind really help. Once we are in them the turbulence settles down. It is the change of airspeed that unsettles the air.
