Hey all! If anyone is around, I need some advice on the fly. I need to book a ticket between LAX and RNO in December. AA flys the route (my preferred airline) but they do it via a partner airline, Alaska Airlines. I don't know how I feel aboud Alaska, especially after the MD80 incident. Anyone have any feelings/opinions on this? I have to book ASAP.
Thanks in advance!
All the best,
Ice

Ice,
I have flown them before - not really any different than the rest. Post over in Ray's forum and maybe he can offer some more insight.
Hey I'm flying to BNA tomorrow for a week!!! You around?
:)

Kelley,
Believe it or not, I'm here! We should have lunch or something.
As for the Alaska Airline question, I had to make a decision, so I didn't go with Alaska. I made my admin book a separate, one way ticket on SWA and am doing a broken AA ticket - AA BNA to Orange County (SWA LAX to RNO) AA RNO back to BNA.
Oh, the convoluted things we do to make ourselves feel just a little better whilst flying.
All the best,
Ice

Cool, Ice! I'm in for a show with Bret Michaels (of Poison) on Thursday then staying thru CMAs. Should be FUN!
Email me: kelley@shilohtheband.com and see if we can do lunch one day!

Alaska is a great carrier!
Nevermind the one blip on their record. They fly good equipment in all kinds of weather in the Northwest and do a great job of it. I'd fly on them with my family anytime!!!

I don't blame you for switching, Ice. Although they're probably safe (now), I still won't fly them, just on principle. Here's my poem about them, with apologies to Dr. Suess:
___
I will not fly them to Spokane
I will not fly them to San Fran
I will not fly them back and forth
I will not fly them south or north
I will not fly them to and fro
I will not fly them where they go
I will not fly them way up high
I will not fly them in the sky
I will not fly them here and there
I will not fly them anywhere
I will not fly Alaska Air!
:tada

(P.S. ... Mark or moderators, if you wanna delete this in accordance with the no-airline-bashing rule, it's OK with me. Just wanted to show off my poem.)

Awww Les, how could anything that cute be considered bashing?
At any rate, I think switching for peace of mind is not a bad thing to do. And now you know for the next time that you don't have to switch...

I don't consider Les's post a bash either. It was a poem that reflects her opinion. It was not a rant. Now, if she's put that ****ed hamster in her post............ :nod

Hey Ice,
Some good advice here, but for Ray... who works for an airline that is in direct competition with Alaska to say they are fine... well that is the best endorsement you can get.
