If Ray's windshield wipers can stand up to 580 mph winds, why do mine fall apart every six months?

That's a great photo. They should have a camera in the nose linked to the passenger enterainment system. Of course, on SW, the pilot IS the passenger entertainment system, but I digress.

You'll be happy to know these fall apart every 9 months....

But, they cost 10 times what your car wipers do!

Actually, the wind where the wipers is is pretty low. It's a relatively stagnant low-pressure area behind the cone-shaped bow wake off the radome. I have stuck little pieces of paper out there while cleaning my windscreen and they have stayed on a whole flight. The wiper blades are twice as stout as car wipers and they are held down by spring loading to make sure the get under the water.

I prefer Rain-X. It works better than the wipers and makes no noise.

Ray --

Great pic!! Framed several of them - hanging in the office/computer room.

Nice to have a job where you can get great shots like that, isn't it? I'd tell you how lucky you are, if you didn't already know that.

I would NOT have any fear if this were my seat.

Most of my fear comes from not being able to see what is in front of me.

I'm that way when I ride in the backseat of a car, as well.

Same here ... I think. humm ...

I'm that way when I ride in the backseat of a car, as well.
Not for me ...

... but then again a car can stop at any time. And you can get out.

In a plane you are in for the duration .. whether you like it or not.

I am starting to think that I am not afraid of flying.

I may be clautrophobic. :shocked

My fear might be different than ... Fear of Flying.

In fact my realization has come to me a week ago after talking to all of you guys.

Sometimes I get claustrophobic in elevators.

Does it mean I can't hang out here anymore cause I don't belong? :(

Gang,

This picture gives you some perspective of how different the flight expereince is from the "front office". This is why I have said over and over again that a lot of folks with a FoF could really benefit from some time in a small airplane, AT THE CONTROLS. It's not for everybody, but the understanding and new viewpoint gained from this experience was, at least for me, very valuable!

Nice picture Ray. But I hope you didn't take your hands off the wheel to take it...:beep Seriously, it's a really pretty picture.
Marco, my biggest problem is flying trapped . Not a true claustrophobic reaction(sorry as a therapist I'm technical about this stuff) but close enough. One reason I don't like long flights is because I can't get the pilot to land and let me walk around for a few minutes when I feel antsy.
Also, I don't mind looking out the window but don't like that seat because I feel too closed in(unless I'm with family members). And contrary to most FOF folks I actually like the back of the plane because it gives me the illusion of more room.
I think I'd do much better with flying if I could have my own plane with lots of room to walk around a pilot who will land safely for just a minute or two upon request...
I think I need to be a rock star. I wonder if the fact that I'm tone deaf will be a problem...

Marco - you better not go anywhere! You are right where you belong! :dancers

Monica - there are SEVERAL rock stars and other singer that are tonedeaf too. You'd fit right in! :rotflmao
