Hi ! long time no post, I read the thread about Jeff, I pray for him to get better soon.

I'd like to say hello to everyone, I'm sorry I haven't posted for a long time. I've got a new job out of town and every day I get home very late. I like it, but it leaves me very little time for myself !

I keep travelling and I had thought of going to California or Arizona in september but they just moved the date of my holidays and I have to go in June. That means I have two weeks to think, book and go. I was thinking also of Norway, the midnight sun at Nortkapp, that sounds cool !

I forgot: now I fly without problems, just a little anxiety with turbulence (my monster). After that flight to California 4 years ago I went to NY City, Orlando, Paris, Dublin, Barcelona, Sharm el Sheik. So thank you thank you thank you !! :happyguy:

What about you??

I'm new here, and don't fly. I'd love to know what methods you used, to get you to the point where you can now fly all over the world with freedom!

Agne, How great to hear from you!!

I also now fly without fear, just the turbulence thing, I have managed to fly from the UK to USA Orlando I don't know how many times but at least once a year, I think it is about 16/17 times now but perhaps only 3 times fear free., New York, Barcelona, Reus, Cyprus, Menorca ,Majorca, Crete, corfu over the last couple of years.

The main reason I was able to fly with reasonable comfort was down to the support of the people here.:)

We miss you Agne,

Lynda

Hi there!

I started of by visiting the airports as much as possible, sometimes we would drive up there every evening for a few months prior to flying, this made me realise how many planes took off and landed safely every day. I also got used to the noises that planes made. I got so accustomed to it that I thought one day I can do this!
I also found it very comforting to have someone tracking my flight.
Prior to flights we used to use the board chat facility and I would pour out all my fears, there was always someone there to re-assure me.
The first couple of Transatlantic flights were really difficult for me. I have been on the phone in the USA to a couple of the mods crying saying I couldn't get back on the plane, I always did and the flights were never as bad as the anticipation of the flight.
You have plenty time to work on this fear

I miss you all too!

Benay:

What helped me most was: reading a lot about airplanes, asking questions, to understand that what really keeps airplanes up in the air it's not magic, but physics.
I watched lots of inflight videos, visited airports and tracked flights to realize how many planes took off safely every day.
I had the great support of all members here.
Once on the plane, I used to write a trip report, writing down everything from how I felt or the noises I heard to the names of the flight attendandts. It worked!
