So I was all set to book another flight on Southwest, who on two flights has done very well by me. But my sister, who is buying me a ticket for this weekend, found a better fare on ATA, and of course, my anxiety level went right up. :shocked
Has anyone ever flown this airline? Are they nice to *people like us*? :sigh

I've heard from some pilots that ATA is a very good airlines so you should rest assured. Besides, I LOVE their song: Gonna Go Easy, Go ATA. I love that jingle.:usflag

One of my best friends is a captain with ATA and has been with them for 18 years. He flies L-1011's though. They fly a lot of new 737's domestically. They just went into bankruptcy, like every other carrier except Southwest it seems.

I have a coworker who's flying ATA to her wedding in January, and she's really nervous since all of this merger stuff has happened.
I'm kind of annoyed by the "go easy" song, but maybe what I can do to keep myself occupied on the flight is making them a new jingle.
But the way I see it, this flight really will test my faith in flying. I'm using an airline I have never used, that no one I know has ever used, and I'm taking a longer flight this time around than any other I've taken in the past five years. (It's only two hours each way, but my one flight in 2003 and the one last week were one hour each way). It's mostly takeoff and landing that bother me, but cruising is so boring.
I'm on the verge of a nasty head cold, however, and the meds I have knock me out but good. So maybe if I take one before I board, I'll actually be able to sleep. Probably not (I've never been good at sleeping while sitting), but here's hoping.
