Editorial ReviewsProduct Description
Director Peyton Wilson entered the world of U.S. Navy fighter pilots, and thanks to unprecedented access granted by the Navy, Peyton captured and created the most intimate film ever made on fighter pilots. Epic High Definition aerial footage and stunning cockpit photography provide a dramatic backdrop for the larger story of fighting for your dreams.
Inspired by the passion of two young Navy officers she encountered, Peyton followed Jay and Meagan as they chased their childhood dream of becoming naval aviators flying the F-14 Tomcat. Their two and a half year journey takes them through dogfights in the Nevada desert, night landings on aircraft carriers off the Atlantic coast, and eventually to the biggest challenge young officers face: wartime deployment to Iraq.
What begins as a story of realizing a childhood dream turns into a story of fighting for one's life and career as Jay and Meagan face the realities of war.

The San Diego 99's (women pilots) had a real treat at our monthly meeting today. Jay, one of the pilots in this movie, is now a local Navy flight instructor. He came to the meeting, gave a presentation, answered questions, and showed some clips from the movie. The most memorable thing I remember him saying is that the key attribute he looks for now in his student pilots is attitude. Do they come to their lessons fully prepared, and are they receptive to criticism and suggestions for improvement?

So, I watched the free version on the Internet this evening...give it :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:.! I'm putting the post here in Capt. Hutch's forum, figuring he'd appreciate it as a former military pilot.

For those of us who have been "meeting the pilots" on our flights...many of them are former military pilots. Watching movies like this can give us some idea of what that training is like, and an appreciation for their level of skill, courage, and dedication. They have their own fears to overcome too.

One warning, there is a little bit of crash footage, not much, but just a heads up. At one point in their training, the pilots had to watch crash movies, all the ways carrier landings can go wrong. This was done to remind them that it COULD happen to them, and to not get careless.

So, pop some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the movie!
