I was thinking last night... Do Pilots ever get bored? Usually I hear that pilots have about the same routes over and over for years. Does that get boring to you? I think in the case of a bus driver that would be a boring job but at least you can see things going on around you, in the air it's just air. Or is flying so complicated you just never have time to bored?

CAflyer,
Actually I never get bored with my flying--although I usually fly the short routes, conditions are usually different and so there is always something to think about. At night I like to check out the star formations, unburdened by the light pollution at sea level. Although even that can be tough flying in the northeast no matter how high you go. I have heard that some pilots get bored on the long hauls, but I don't usually do those routes.

Have you ever seen the Monty Python sketch with the bored pilots?? Hilarious, and just what I suspect really goes on up in the cockpit some days...:D
The sketch starts 27 seconds into the video...
