Is it true that the ealry morning flights have less of a chance of rough air than an afternoon flight?? I am flying Boston to Orlando and I'm hoping that it will be smooth.

Lukenick, While you're waiting for a specific answer to that question, did you read the thread on turbulence already posted here in Capt. Hutch's forum? He writes about it in quite a bit of detail. Maybe you will find it reassuring. http://www.takingflight.us/forums/showthread.php?t=7337

Lukenick,
Yes, in the summer generally that is true because as the sun heats up the earth up drafts develop. This convective activity as it is called is more pronounced then in the summer, though it can happen anytime and if you check the forecast of the cities that you are interested in and notice thunderstorms in the area near your time of arrival then you can probably expect some extra bumps. So, yes, morning flights are probably smoother statistically. Plus morning flights usually have less delays since the aircraft is usually starting out on its daily run.
Have a great flight!
Hutch :)
