Hi, I'll be traveling with airtransit and going to dominican republic in 2 weeks with the airbus A310-300 and returning with the A330
I'm absolutely scared as I heard these planes have the worse safety rating.. I really ain't ready to die.. I'm just 20..
Please help?
You won't die, don't worry! Worrying is the worst thing you can do when flying. Your heart rate goes up, making you feel ill and time always seems to go slower!
The fact is, some planes might be safer than others, but it depends on the airline too. They have different regulations, but, realistically, you don't see many plane crashes these days.
There are thousands in the air - the likeliness of dying in a plane crash is less than 1 in 1,000,000 so the chances are, you won't crash! If you do, as you can see, actually dying is exremely unlikely. As one person said to me in my post, one person flying 4 flights a year, would have to fly for 42,000 years to be in a crash. You probably don't fly that much, so it won't be you!
All you can do is sit back, relax, and catch up on things! Whatever you do, don't take sleeping pills, as these will completely knock you out, and if there is a case of emergency, you'll want to be fully with it! Think of things to do, any work/studies? Organising files on a computer or iPod, perhaps writing a CV, anything like that. Think of it as a luxury, you're travelling thousands of miles, and all you have to do is sit back and relax, or do whatever while flight attendants run around after you!
Good luck
