Wow Barb, that is a quite interesting report. Of course ice in the fuel has been an issue that has been addressed for a long time, and usually filters in the fuel lines take care of that. However, with jet engines becoming more and more efficient and typical fuel flows becoming lower, that is something to keep an eye on.

Hmmm...missed this before. Being a cold-climate baby, I find it interesting that something like this would happen in a plane. I mean, my car has now been re-engineered to prevent fuel-line freeze-up (and trust me, I remember the days when this was a frequent problem with cars. I had a few days where we pushed the car into the garage and blasted the heater so that it would start). And of course, I find out about this at a time when I frequently fly 777s over the North Pole. :(
