Not sure where exactly to put this "trip report" (NOT mine!)http://dailynightly.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/06/11/1130768.aspx , but figured Capt. Hutch might also find it interesting. So THAT's one place where those old airplanes end up...

That was pretty interesting. I'm not too sure I like the part about seeing the (control?) cables outside of the fuselage!
Hutch

While I'd probably be a bit worried if I saw control cables hanging out of the plane, I'm pretty sure the cables Brian Williams is referring to are the old HF radio wires that attach to the top of the fuselage and run to the leading edge of the tail.
This airline took delivery of a second 737-200. I saw it leaving Tucson when I left town a couple days ago.

Hmmm...don't you have a place where elderly airplanes are parked out in the desert there in Tucson?
I looked up "Pamair" on Jetphotos.net, but didn't find a listing, nor any airplane photos on a Google Image search. However, a link did pop up for continuing coverage of Brian William's trip in Afghanistan...lots of comments following each entry too. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Bylines/mugs/NBC%2520News/nbc_williams_brian_02.cmug.jpg&imgrefurl=http://dailynightly.msnbc.msn.com/rss.aspx&h=82&w=126&sz=3&hl=en&start=16&tbnid=IfiYUjZLE5eddM:&tbnh=59&tbnw=90&prev=/images%3Fq%3D%2BPamair%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den%26sa%3D G

We have several--two civilian places and the military bone yard. There's a couple in Phoenix and a few out in the deserts in California. They're getting a lot of business these days.
