OK my peeps...tell me all you know about DELTA!! I have never flown Delta and I am headed to CA on July 2nd.
BOS-ATL (McDOnnell Douglas MD-88) seat 19D
ATL-SNA (Boeing 757-200) seat 33D
How are the seats; comfy and roomy??? How are the restrooms; (you all know my issues with that and the locking of the door)???
I will be ok, I keep telling myself. I will be ok.
2.5 hours to ATL, 45 minutes to get to my connection, 4.5 hours to SNA!!!!

Hi, Momrek06,
I assume you already know that Delta's as good as it gets if you're looking for an established airline with a solid safety record.
I can only speak about Delta from my limited experience with them before I sold my soul to United for the miles. When I first started having to fly a lot for work, I'd just fly whichever carrier was most convenient, and sometimes that meant Delta. I have very good memories of my Delta flights, mostly because I introduced myself to the FA and captain as a fearful flyer, and they were very accommodating -- went out of their way to talk to me and help me, very friendly folks.
Dunno about the bathrooms and can't remember details about the seats, but my memory of Delta will always be good because of the way the Delta crew members were so kind and helpful to me.
Please tell them about your fear; in my experience, they are great with fearful flyers.

Delta is (was?) great. I flew them a lot between Portland, Ore., and the east coast when I lived up there. It's been a few years since I was on them, but they were pretty good. The bathrooms were like any other bathrooms on planes. The MD-11 and 767s (-200 and -300s) were just a bit bigger than the 737s I find myself on every few weeks.

Delta is great! Not to worry.
As for comfy seats etc... they are just as good as anyone else's coach seating. To me no airline has a comfortable seat. If they did, folks would be replacing the recliner in their homes with used airline seats!
You will be just fine on Delta!

If you're tall, or have long legs, you'll find Delta's MD-88 to be cramped for knee room, but when you change to the 757, you'll see a noticeable difference in comfort with more area between your knees and the seat in front of you. Also, the the 757 is just an overall bigger plane that offers a more spacious environment for longer flights.

Ahh...many thanks, LeslieDEN, tusphotog, Passenger Mark, StPeteMark, I love all your replies.
I know I will be fine. I just keep telling myself that over and over again. I am going to indeed mention to the FA about my restroom issues and my fof....should I tell them when I check in at Logan/Bos or wait until I am on board the plane???
I asked about the seats because I have flown AA and thought their seats were cramped but I did just fine.....then I flew SWA and thought their seats were roomier.
My DSis who is traveling with me is tall, 5'9, and she had a blood clot in 2005 so she likes the aisle to stretch her left leg when no one is around, you know. And as far as DSis goes, no worries, she flies monthly all over this world for Verizon. She will be MY rock for this flight!!!
Once again, thanks everyone. I love reading the replies, it gives me more comfort than you know!!!!!!!
One good thing about this flight is I am not returning....one way....until maybe Thanksgiving.

Funny! On my last flight a couple weeks ago, I sat next to a phone rep Verizon. It was great, we spent most of the 2:30 flight comparing war stories about our various commutes to work.
What does "DSis" stand for? I can think of a number of meanings, but I don't think any of them fit your use.
By the way, tell the flight crew about your FOF when you get on the plane. Don't bother when you check in.

Ohhh...the D is for dear....I post on allot of message boards and everyone posts; DSis, (dearsister) DH (dearhusband) etc etc!!!
Ok, now in reference to telling the FA about my FOF, do I tell them as I get ON the plane (I do not want to hold people up from getting to their seats) or wait until the FA's are walking by my seat?
Yes, DSis writes computer programs for Verizon and works mostly in their fraud division and travels from TX to the Dominican Republic to Tampa (to the Verizon offices) and has a flight to India in a few months. She is excited to be coming with me as she has plans to check out the So Cal offices while she is there and maybe she will RELOCATE to the area and be close to me!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info about "DSis" or "DH." I always though DH meant designated hitter and "DSis" was Double Stimulus Impairment Scale. :D
As for talking to the FAs, just mention it when you walk onboard and move into the area between the galley and the forward lav/flight deck door. That way you stay out of everyone's way. On the 757, you'll probably enter from the mid cabin door, turning left for first or right for coach. I think there's a pretty large galley area there, so you'll have enough room to stay out of everyone's way. If you're sitting all the way in the back of the bus, do it before you get to your seat.
The person I sat next to had a suitcase full of something like 25 different phones. She was a phone rep. She wouldn't take my piece of junk Verizon/Motorola phone as a trade though.

My first flight after being grounded was on Delta. They serve nice little crackers - biscuity-type things - that taste like animal crackers for adults. Yumm. Very good stomach soothers if you are too scared to eat.
The MD-88 is fine - if you sit way in the back it can be kind of noisy because the engines are in the back. So if you walk back there for the lav, you may notice it's kind of loud in there. This is not an issue at all - I only mention it so the change in sound from front to back won't freak you out.
I had a layover in the CVG airport (Delta land) the second time I flew after being grounded. We had had a flight getting there when we were in the clouds and there was a lot of up and down and some bumps getting to land (summer rain). It was hard for me then (though I think I would do better with it now). Anyway, when we finally got to the airport I almost fainted in the food court because I was so hungry, dehydrated, and exhausted from the anxiety of the flight. Some very nice Delta FAs and pilots came over and sort of scooped me up and brought me a sandwich (I think they actually BOUGHT it for me as I recall). They gave up their place in line buying lunch to do this. I have never forgotten it.
