Hello everyone,

I know its been a while since I've been on the board and I apologize for that. I've been somewhat busy.

Those of you who know me are aware that I really have not been satisfied with my career as a regional-jet first officer.

The furloughs that followed 09/11 tore me from the Boeing cockpit and I just didnt find the Regional Jet to be financially or professionally rewarding. There is nothing wrong with the airplane, I just havent been enjoying myself as much as I used to.

So i've decided to leave the airlines. I have recently accepted a position with a fortune 500 company flying a Learjet 31A.

This is a step in a completely new direction for me and I'm looking forward to the change (as well as not having to be harassed in the security line anymore!).

I doubt i'd be of much use to you folks in that capacity, but as always i'm willing to answer questions if anyone has any. Kelly has my contact info and will be happy to share it.

So... thats about it. Its the 10th at 4:15pm eastern. I'll be in chat for a little bit if anyone would like to talk.

Blue skies!

Sorry to hear you were unhappy but I think you made a better financial move. I have a first cousin that flies for some corporartion and he's always loved it. I think you'll find it more to your liking.

Good luck!

Glad you've made the change. I just changed jobs too and am much much happier, but it was hard to suck it up and do it.

When we all get really rich and famous, maybe you will be our pilot :airplane

Michael, Congratulations. since I plan to own a private jet one day with couches and all :p ---you will definitely be able to help.
Seriously, I agree with Spiff. I'm betting the change will make you happier. Not always easy to make a change and I respect you for doing it. Keep us posted. Monica

Thanks Kelly!

No more uniform! No more hat! (maybe some of my hair will grow back where that hat rubbed a bald-spot!)

Should be a whole different world for me. I'm looking forward to it.

Wow!

Sounds like a great career!

And another perspective. We have airline pilots, and private pilots, now we have a corporate pilot. Just need a military one in there somewhere!

Good luck to you, I know you will do well!

Just an update in case anyone's interested.

3 more days on the RJ then i'm done. Taking the holiday off before I start the new job. Training will be during the month of December in Arizona (flightsafety). Then I'll start in January flying the Lear 31.

No more security hassles! No more ties! No more hats! No more bouncy employee-lot busses! No more racing to stuff a greasy burger down my throat during a 15 minute-turn on leg 5 of a 14 hour duty-day!

I cant wait! After half-a-dozen airlines, almost as many furloughs, starting over again time after time i'm actually EXCITED about flying again. :hamster

Michael

Congratulations! Sounds like you're really excited about the change.

Maybe you'd like to at least occasionally check in here. Give us a view from the "other side".

Happy Thanksgiving, and g'luck!:chicken (closest thing I could find to a turkey!)

Debbie (from the "other" board - in case you forgot)

Good for you, Michael! Glad to hear you are excited about flying again. I know the politics of the airlines were getting you down.

I was actually sitting in your home airport last nite with a 2 hour layover and thought about you.

Good luck with your new venture! You had better find time to hang out on the site with your new schedule!!!!

Hugs!
Kelley
