I forgot how much I dont like night flying but I had to change my flight coming home yesterday from a 12:35PM departure to a 5:15pm departure. Yuck! Maybe it's just me but night flying has always seemed more turbulent to me.
Got to the airport with the boss about an hour before my flight - he was flying American to LAX and I was on Delta to CVG then CHS. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the leg from BNA to CVG was on a 737 instead of an RJ and that I was upgraded to first class (LOVING that Silver Medallion status, Ken!!!). We went thru security together where of course he got in trouble for having a hex wrench in his guitar case. :security Off to our separate gates and I find that I am in the very front aisle seat of the plane next to a cute young guy. COOL but I like the window. Oh well, not complaining - after all, I get to drink my WHOLE can of ginger ale out of a GLASS in first class. :cheers :jump Off we go thru the clouds. This is the part that always freaks me out though - we are taking off up thru the clouds so all you can see out the window is the light shining on the clouds. YIKES! We went thru light chop the whole way and before I knew it we were landing in Cincinatti. 2 hours in CVG - grabbed some food, wandered around and debated checking emails at Laptop Lane but decided to just sit and watch the pilots go by... LOL :ray :ray :ray :ray :ray
Flight to CHS was on the 40 seater RJ and I was in row 3 right behind a deadheading first officer (wish he had sat by me!). This flight got pretty shaky and we hit some moderate turbulence. I kept a keen eye on the pilot :ray in front of me watching his reactions but he seemed completely unaffected by the pretty good bumps and shakes we were enduring. Landing in CHS was eerie again because of clouds - the cloud cover was just thick enough to cover the ground but you could see the glow of lights below it.
Glad to be home for 3 weeks before back to Nashville - unless this trip to Vegas comes thru on 12/3. :band :drunken
