Hi All.
Just a quick note - well - ok and looking for some encouragement! I am flying to NYC from Tampa on Friday morning VERY early! And then I return that night. (Quick meeting for work)
The thing that has me worried this time is the weather in NYC. Looks like weather.com is saying rain/snow. YUCK! I haven't flown in that type of weather in years - is it more turbulent?
I fly into JFK and out of LGA. I picked my seats (got them where I want them) - so thats a good thing.
I am really just very worried about the weather. HELP!
(of course in Tampa it will be sunny and warm!!)
Thank you so much!

We're right behind you for next weekend. My biggest worry about the weather is delays or cancellations. If it's a go, I have the utmost faith in the pilots and OPS!!!
Too bad you can't stay at least a night to enjoy NYC.

I was about to say the same thing. Shame to waste the free flight.
(Don't read the "musicals" thread, it'll just make you sad you're not staying.)

Thanks! I know - I wish I could stay too. My husband was going to fly up but the hotels are OUTRAGEOUS! Can't talk my company into paying for that too!!

Yeah, agree about the hotels...when we booked the flight, the modest nice ones near Rockefeller Center averaged between $350-$500/night! We leave Tampa at 6am on Sat. Our return flight on the next day is at 6am...so we're going to leave Manhattan after midnight and go straight to JFK and snooze until departure.

That is dedication.
Have you looked at staying outside the city? Or, for that matter, near JFK?

The past several times I've gone to NYC, I've stayed here (http://www.portlandsquarehotel.com/).
It's not for everyone, but if you don't mind giving up a few luxuries (like having your own bathroom), you can save a bundle. And the location is tough to beat.

If you have any frequent stay points at a hotel then check the hotels near the airports - they are usually the cheapest around NYC and pretty nice hotels since they cater to business travelers.
NYC is fabulous! What a shame to waste a day working.
Oh and the view is GORGEOUS if there is snow on the ground. Snow is less turbulent to fly thru than rain so no worries.
Just FYI - there is water surrounding LGA so don't be alarmed. Landing at LGA in the daytime is pretty eyeopening but since you are taking off you probably won't even notice.
Have fun!
