Ok...well the weather whic was "not so bad" when I left for the airport turned into "pretty crappy" fairly quickly. After my 75 minute drive to the airport (normally 25 minutes), I found my flight delayed an hour, then another, then another. My 4PM flight boarded at around 9PM and then waited an hour to be de-iced. We took off around 10:15. Needless to say, the long delay gave me plenty of time for my anxiety to build. And the weather wasn't making it any better. I wondered why they didn't just shut down the airport (hmmm maybe because it was SAFE to keep it open and continue flying???). The actual flight was pretty smooth. The landing was a bit hairy in my eyes. The cloud ceiling at LGA was 200-300 feet. I get anxious when I can't see the ground, so I wasn't happy. I was able to see the Statute of Liberty, but right after that the cloud cover began and I didn't see anything else until about 20 seconds before touchdown. The landing was a bit hard, but we made it (and even made it to a complete stop before we ran out of runway). All in all, I wouldn't say it was an enjoyable flight because of the delays and weather. That, plus the approach in total darkness and cloud cover. Luckily the return flight was much easier. Better weather, no turbulence. And a pilot who seemed more friendly. Hope everyone had a great holiday.

Hi Trader, we usually fly from Newark to ORD this time of year and gave it a miss this year. I was glad because of the delays. Although, we drove to Mass. instead and I'm betting it wasn't much safer. Weather sucked and we hit every drunk driver from NY to Mass...(well, we didn't hit them but ...). It made me think that neither was ideal but once we were with family and friends the means of transportation slid into the background. So, in spite of crappy weather:thundercloud and delays---you did it. You got on the plane and went. That is something to feel really, really good about. And hopefully, your next flight will be to somewhere warm:sunshine
