Yeah, I saw that, too; it's really is scary!
I heard on the news that the TSA is going to start allowing passengers to carry cigarette lighters on the plane again...what's the stupid logic behind that!!!??? :fuming:

Makes sense to me. What's the threat behind someone having a lighter on the plane? Planes were chock full of lighter-wielding passengers for decades back in the day.
If a terrorist could get a bomb on a plane (a pretty big "if", as we all know) then they can get a lighter on, ban or not. And if they couldn't, they could just as easily use a match. Or, more likely, and like pretty much every suicide bomber out there, they'd simply use some form or electrical ignition to set the thing off.
So honestly, I don't think the ban on lighters really solved anything apart from giving the appearance of "something being done".
The more of these ineffective "feel good" bans we can lift, the better, IMHO. Then we can focus our attention on the actions that actually do make us safe.
