View Full Version : Arrived Safely!!!
I am now in the Philippines! I have made it through that painful and terrifying 18 hour, 3 leg flight... Whew! I can finally confirm that "omens" "signs" are not true.. not at all i guess..
while I was at the airport waiting for the second leg of my flight, I saw the word "crash" several times and got scared to the max..
Anyway, I postponed this trip for literally a year because of various reasons that people talk about in this board. But I sucked it up, and now I am really happy because our whole family is back together again.
Thank you for all the motivating words from all of you. I hope someday I may encourage others as i have been encouraged by kind and supportive words i got from this board.

Mik...Thank you SO MUCH for reporting in, and CONGRATULATIONS on sucking it up and taking the flight!! I'm sure that having your whole family together again is a wonderful reward for you there at the end of such a long flight. :grouphug: :tiphat::tiphat::band:  :flowers: :flowers:
You know, it's funny, but I never notice that word "crash" when I'm walking around in stores and wherever...it's funny how certain words pop out and catch the attention of some people, and others never even notice them.
I do hope that you will continue to visit with us here on the board, and keep working on your fear of flying. It is certainly possible that with continued effort, you will find future flights to be less frightening.
If you come back here and encourage other people, you may be surprised to find that it helps you as well. :)

Congratulations on making the flight Mik!!!
It is funny that you see the word "crash" so much before a flight. It is just like whenever I learn a new word, I start to hear it everywhere. It is simply our brans picking up on things we don't normally think about.
I hope you enjoy your time and family in the Philippines. You should feel proud that you made the trip.
Just out of curiousity, when you say the "terrifying 18 hour flight"...was it only terrifying in your head? How was everybody else on the plane?

That's one of the things that flying (and getting over our fear of it) is all about ... being with the people we love! Congratuations, Mik.
Yes, you sure do have an encouraging story to tell now. Time lost with those we love can never be recovered. Perhaps you can help other people make those important flights.

mik, I just want to say, well done!!:tiphat::thumbsup::tiphat::cheers:
I, too, believe that if you will just keep flying--hopefully with opportunities to do shorter flights so they aren't such a big bite, you will find that nothing about your fear is true except that it has had you tricked for a long time. There are many things you can do--especially now that you have glimpsed the truth--to actively reduce your anticipatory anxiety and your discomfort during the flight. For now, celebrate, enjoy your happy family reunion  and try to look at the flight as a positive and necessary part of that.
You might want to read some words of wisdom Leslie-DEN shared with us in the 'Recovery' thread about the things we add and subtract. Once we realize that the bad feelings have nothing to do with the plane and everything to do with our brains, we can get to work changing how we feel. You have taken a big step in that direction. :tiphat:
