A friend has had a triple heart bi-pass 2 years ago. He occasionally needs supplementary O2, would he be able to take this on a European flight? His doctor says he can now take flights up to 4 hours duration.

Can be done but talk to the airline first. Peope carrying their own oxygen is not encoraged as it has too much moisture. With enough planning the airline will let him use theirs and have enough for the return leg. The airline may even have a prefered suplier that the passenger could source. Doctors certificates and letters are a must as they spell out to dispatchers what is required.
