OK, so I'm back home with a wad of gauze in my mouth. It is still kind of bleeding where the wisdom tooth got extracted. When I got home, I put in new gauze and when I took out the old, it started bleeding again. I don't like the bleeding one tiny bit. I almost panicked a few minutes ago. Plus, I can taste it in my mouth. That is not something I'm fond of at all!

I did not have any stitches put in because the wisdom tooth was in a straight position just like my regular teeth. It came out easy enough, but I'm still freaking over the blood on the tissue when I let out some of the saliva. Of course, yeah...it looks like more blood because it's mixed with saliva...but you know...just scared at the present time. :shakehead

Glad you got through it O.K. Courtney. Hope it wasn't too painful. When I had mine out...gol, more than 30 yrs. ago, the dentist told me to use a wet tea bag as a compress. I remember I used Constant Comment, because I liked the taste a whole lot better than the blood. Something about the tannin in the tea is supposed to help stop the bleeding. This is probably a folk remedy, but it did work for me. That, and keeping ice packs (wrapped in a towel) on my jaw, on and off, for the first 24 hrs.

Hey Barb...

The dentist gave me a sheet to go by for "after care" and guess what? Your tea bag remedy is actually on there! I got two tea bags from my mother but have yet to use them, because...guess what? It FINALLY stopped bleeding! I'm down to just an "ooze" at present time and it's not even bloody looking. I'm actually sitting here eating a cup of vanilla pudding at the moment! I also drank one of those "Instant Breakfast" shake things for some quick energy.

I have some strawberry Jell-O that I'm going to be whipping up in a little bit.

Actually, the extraction was not all that painful. I just did not care much for the popping sound it made like a twig breaking when he was wiggling my jaw from side to side.

Well, since he gave me my tooth, I told Don I'm putting it under my pillow tonight and I'm expecting a decent fare from the tooth fairy. :magic:
