Im watching my wifes flight 424 on american airlines from LAX to Chicago. It got there and then flew left of the airport over the lake. My imagination.............
I guees its common to do a fly-around for traffic, but its stressing me out!!!!

She called and had a great flight (of course). I hate being a worrier about something so safe...!!!...
Now off to Bloomington on a turbo-prop!!!
She said she got some good pics of Sears tower etc. from the plane. L.A. pics as well!

It's a pretty nice day in Chicago today. She's lucky she didn't fly through here yesterday or the day before. Not so nice.

Jeff.. Don't worry about that too much.. Approaches are always going to change, sometime multiple times a day based on the prevailing winds and such. Remember, aircraft normally land and take off into the wind, so that's always changing. Airports are actually built and designed to take this into account, but there are also cross-winds and other considerations add odd-ball circumstances. No worries there! If you ever get the chance, you should go to an airport and actually watch this occur. It's REALLY fun if you have a handheld radio that will receive the ATC channels, than you can follow along and listen as you watch.
Sometimes they'll even "back-taxi" a plane waiting for takeoff down the runway for their departure if the winds change and there is no traffic inbound. I've had that happen to me a number of times. Basically back-taxiing is when you drive down the actual active runway, do a 180 and take off.

Jeff,
Glad the flights went well!
I have been in the same spot while tracking. It seems to take forever! I think the trackers start acting wierd towards the end of the flight.

You know what was funny? I was watching the plane and it said 7 minutes to arrival.. Then she called.. I told her "you're still in the air!!".... lol they have a pretty big delay on the tracking sites for safety.
Gonna track her back home in a couple days...
Thanks for the kind words
