This is a great photo... Sorry Ray... don't mean to embarrass you...

But... all us FOFers wonder what EXACTLY is going on up front. This shows it!

The wing in the background with the cloud layer. Just imagine the passengers behind the wall settling in for a flight.

Just shows that the Captain IS watching out for ya!

(...in between holding the camera out in one hand and taking pictures of himself!)

Just kidding - I like the picture too.

He didn't take that picture....He had the FO climb out onto the nose and snap that one. The really cool thing is that even with the open window, Ray's hair never budged.

GASP! Ray has "Ken doll hair"??

How DID you take that pix, Ray??

Well, I for one am glad that he doesn't have the wind rushing through his hair...
I think the picture was taken by this person who was riding along side the plane at the time...:witch

Whoa... tough crowd!

After doing this as long as I have, new stuff takes awhile to get used to. For 20+ years, I have been able to look out my number 3 window and see only the last half of the wing and wingtip. That's it.

Now, with winglets, theres this THING sticking up about 8 feet tall and it took some getting used to every time I'd look out the window. I have a good friend who wants to work here and took this for him. He thought they looked odd too. Sorry to get my mug in there, I was holding the camera up and just snapped the picture to give a vantage point from up front. Tha'ts all I can see of my wing.

No matter what you do for a living, it would be nice for your kids to have a picture of you doing it. My father was a photographer in the Navy and we have precious few pictures of him. Always the photographer: Never the subject. We'd all do well to remember that because at some time in the future, we'll be retired -or gone. It's too late to go back. The few photos I have of my dad are precious to me.

(OLD FAMILY PHOTOG SECRET: To get good pictures you have to take a lot of pictures. With the advent of digital, ALWAYS take two or three of each picture and you'll be surprised how one stands out as better than the others.)

PS Kelley -It's a cheap hairpiece.:)

LOL, Ray!

I highly doubt that.

You look fab. What a fun picture. And yes you are right about the pictures - you can never have too many memories.

Ray, your hair reminds me of my future first husband Stone Phillips' hair. I think it looks great.

Erika - does Stone know this yet? I better get a wedding invite! Let me know if you need any live entertainment at the wedding... I know this band... :band

I don't think Stone knows, but I'm sure he senses something by now. He's already married, but he's getting up in years and I figure soon he'll want to trade the old wife in for a younger one. It is my aspiration to be Stone Phillips' trophy wife.

(I know I'm not doing much to convince you people I'm sane. I admit to being a bit left of center, but I stand by my statement that I am not an actual Gunther fan).

My mom's a paralegal, and her boss recently had a call from Dateline NBC about possibly doing a story about one of his cases, and I was really hoping they would so I could meet Stone, but no such luck. I'm still hoping I'll stumble upon the story of the century here at the paper, but so far, the best I've gotten is a call from a CBS talk show. And they just wanted information; they didn't want me to be on the show.

C'mon now -- you guys are mean!

Ray does NOT have Ken hair. He has very soft, blowing-in-the-breeze hair.

I was also amazed to find out that those wingtips are 8 feet high! Sure doesn't look it either from pictures, or from the terminal window, looking out.

Also, to back up a comment Ray made about pics: Last trip out to PHX, I took picture after picture during the flight, and only 4 were "worthy". I LOVE my digital!!! That trip, I took 396 pictures, and only developed 94. (good thing!) Seriously, I prefer to just keep shooting away, then spend time on the computer going through and fine-tuning them.

Don't know how I got along without it!

Deb and :anon (Don't know why, but his picture never comes out!)

"No matter what you do for a living, it would be nice for your kids to have a picture of you doing it."

What, a picture of me sitting at my desk drinking coffee?? LOL

Regarding the "Ken hair": My comment about his hair was to be given all the weight of the "FO out on the nose" comment. Sheesh people.

I don't think Ray has Ken doll hair at all. I really do think his hair looks like Stone Phillips' hair. And for the record, I think very highly of Stone Phillips. I also think very highly of Ray, by the way, and even if he had Ken doll hair, the guy defies the laws of gravity every day...and deals with us!

Besides, if I wanted to say something mean, I'd find a fear of flying site where people are mean. :angel

Sorry, Mark. Please don't kick me out! I'll be good from now on, I promise! :flowers

Huey,

With a couple of your friends at work, standing in front of a test vehicle or test rig....

ABSOLUTELY!

Even a shot of you deep in your inner sanctum (desk) would be good. Remember: What you think is boring is not always what a family member might think is boring.

Picture of me at my work?

I would be sitting at my desk with a Diet Coke surfing this board.

(Shhhh, don't tell my boss)

Hmmm. A recipe for what?
I think I'd be in trouble with taking a picture at work. If I take a picture of me talking to a client, I have to cut out the client(confidentiality, you know). Then it will look like their mom is sitting there talking to herself...:scratch
Although, I could use it to my advantage. Do the mom guilt thing and tell them the reason I'm talking to myself is "Because no one ever listens to me...:sigh :sigh :sigh "
All kidding aside, Ray is right about the importance of pictures. Sometimes, we'll pull out the photo albums at my mom's house and pour over the photos. It surprises me sometimes how into it the kids get considering that some of the photos are so old I don't even know who the people are.

Ray,

I dont REALLY think you have Ken Doll hair. I was making a joke. I think you look quite DASHING in that picture, but of course I have this thing for epaulets.... LOL

I have tons of pix of me with people I meet with my job but only 1 or 2 of me actually "doing my job". How boring would that be - a pix of me with my cell phone stuck to my head and trying to type?

:)
