Hi all been reading these forums a while now as im flying to orlando on 7th may from manchester and its only 2nd flight i ever been on and longest (9hours eeek!) , one of my all time fears on an aircraft (mainly due to watching an air accident documentary on sky lol) is something going wrong up there and the plane tearing apart or something, the doc i watched had a faulty wire near the fuel tank which sparked causing the tanks to explode , how likely is this? also im going on a 747 with virgin, this is a monster of a plane and looks scary to say the least hehe ( how does something so big fly?)
any comments or reassurance will be great :) somehow i feel slighlty better that i have a window seat (its something to do with me needing to see whats going on outside) sounds daft i know. thanks for reading

I have done this flight Manchester to MCO at least 16 times mostly flying with Virgin.
Virgin are a great airline to fly with if you let them know you are having problems with flying and will take special care of you.

I have always found that on the long haul flights you settle down and become less anxious than on some of the short haul flights.

Time passes very quickly on the flight as there is quite a lot going on, meals, drinks, ice creams and movies.

Read some of the helpful stickies we have here especially the anxiety ones and most of all enjoy Orlando.

I am sure someone with more tech knowledge than myself will be along shortly.

As I have said before such programs should only be wathced in the company of some one who can explain what you qre seeing. The bad wire is an old story and has been fixed an fuel pumps have been redesigned. If you get the chance wath all the 747s get airbourne before your flight just to show how often it happens. Florida will be lovely.
