How could you resist looking at this post? :D Actually I seriously wanted to ask, are barf bags (I don't know what else to call them) something you have to ask for? Reason I ask is as I recall only one of the three flights I've been on actually had one in front of me. For my upcoming flight I should be in better shape than in the past, but I was curious if standard procedure was to have one available in the small compartment behind each seat. Thanks for your input everbody! :)

Every seatback should have a rolf bag in it. If yours doesn't, the adjacent seat should. If you don't find any (dig deep as they get lost), ask before departure and the FA will hook you up.
Get a window seat if possible. If not, at least try to look out the window to the horizon. That helps tell your mind you really aren't moving around as much as your spatial organs are saying you are, plus it takes your mind off the bumps.
I deadheaded back from Dallas two days ago. After getting up at 1245 AM PHX time (thanks to a freight train engineer with bad horn technique passing my hotel) I was in the snooze mode on the way home. On climbout we got bounced around and mt head was banging the side of the cabin. When I looked out my window I saw the wingtip was hardly moving around on the horizon. It felt far worse than it was.
:ray:

Also, open up the cupboards in the lavatory. That's where we keep our stash.

I've told this before, but it's funny...
When my brother-in-law and sister were dating, and he was in law school in New Orleans, she went down to visit him on what was a pretty bumpy day in the skies. She was OK from our hometown to Philadelphia, but she didn't have any time to sit and reset or get a drink before getting to her connection to New Orleans, and her incoming flight had been really bumpy, and she gets motion sickness like nobody's business. She looked in the seatback, and no barf bag. So she asked the flight attendant for one, and the flight attendant said they had some sort of barf bag shortage...so she brought my sister a big, industrial sized garbage bag. I feel for the people sitting next to her, because she used it the whole way to New Orleans.

Some people actually ask for garbage bags, if they know they will be puking enough to fill it. And, it happens.

Yet another reason I will never be a flight attendant. Or work in a hospital. Or an elementary school. Can't take the vomit.

We're not allowed to take any bags wanting to be discarded by passengers. They must dispose of them on their own. Same with diapers.
Thank God.

My flight is in two weeks. Although I'm a wee bit nervous, its seriously helping that I'm feeling a lot of good vibes from the people here. I'll probably do a full blown post in a few days, but the positive input I'm getting from everyone is really helping me (maybe its just my personality type). Thank you Captain Ray and everbody. :)
