I was checking a time zone map (http://www.mapsofworld.com/usa/thematic-maps/maps/usa-timezone-map.gif) to see what my flight time from Phoenix to Hawaii should be (ATA doesn't list time in the air -- some airlines do that, so I don't know why they don't), but according to this map, Arizona is on some wonky rotating time zone thing.
From the looks of things, if I take off at 3:10 Phoenix time and land at 6:55 Maui time, I'll be spending approximately six hours in the air. But I'm thrown by the wonky rotating time zone. Anyone with Arizona expertise care to shed some light on this?

Phoenix time is the same all year round since they do not observe Daylight Savings Time. Because they stay the same, the time difference between Arizona and other parts of the country varies. I live on the East coast, and my parents live in Phoenix. During Daylight Savings Time, my parents are three hours earlier than I am. The rest of the year, they are only two hours earlier.
Confusing, but that's the way it is.

Check out this link: it gives current time in the US and Hawaii. Maybe it will help you sort it all out.

Sniffle ... only in a world gone mad.
Arizona is always on Mountain Standard Time. When the rest of the country goes crazy, changing its clocks, complaining about having to get up earlier, asking why why why do we have to do this, Arizona just stays the same. Arizona is serene and calm and unchanging.
Then the rest of the country says Arizona has a crazy time system. It's OK, we just write it off to y'all's DST-related sleep deprivation.
It actually did bug me a little when I lived there. Everybody else changes their clocks and then says our time has changed. "You guys are on California time now, right?" No, we'd have to answer, we're on the same time we always are. We are the constant. California is on our time now.
But now I get to do it too ...

Arizona is on the same time as California in the summer, and an hour later in the winter. IF that helps.

Indiana does the same thing Arizona does, and it's confusing there too. Luckily, there's not much reason to go to Indiana.
Monica, everyone I have mentioned Hawaii to says the same thing. It must be a pretty amazing place. I hope I'm not disappointed after all of this build-up. But like I keep telling Matt, after how busy we've been lately, I could just sit in a chair in the hotel lobby for five days and be happy, as long as I didn't have any responsibilities.

I am so going to see that ball of paint!
I've been past the RV Hall of Fame. And I enjoyed reading about it in The Onion (http://www.theonion.com/content/node/38630).
