View Full Version : Do Airbus onboard computers REALLY use Windows?

I heard that Airbus jets use Windows for the OS in their onboard computers.

I simply cannot believe that. It's too ridiculous to believe...but I must know.

A most emphatic no. Boeings and Airbus Flight Management Systems dont use windows. The reason has nothing to do with reliability. The FMC isnt sofisticated enough to run such OS. The Boeing uses some chips that are the same as PCs but we are talking 386. So no we dont have to listen to the intel (ba da da ding) noise logo each time we show up for work.
