Has anyone flown Allegiant Air? They are based in Las Vegas and now have direct flights to WI. They seem to be relatively new and I'm just wondering what they and/or their service is like.

Thanks

I have never heard of them... so that sent me off on the web trying to find some information... BTW, Just because I have never heard of them, that is not a bad thing. There are a bunch of carriers I have never heard of!

Here is their history, fleet information and also discusses their maintaience...

www.allegiantair.com/about.htm (http://www.allegiantair.com/about.htm)

They fly the MD87 and MD83, and have ten aircraft in their fleet.

They have had NO accidents since beginning operation in 1997.

The MD8 Series has a good track record. No recent accidents, and very few in the United States.

The last accident involving the MD83 occurred on January 31, 2000. Alaska Airlines Flight 261 near Point Magu, CA.

A Scandinavian Airlines MD87 was involved in a ground accident on October 8, 2001 when a Cessna Citation pulled in front of it as it was on a takeoff roll. This occurred in Milan Italy.

The only thing that I do not like... and this is JUST ME... is it appears that many of their aircraft came from Scandinavian Air. See...

This is not a safety factor as that is common in the industry. And you can bet I have flown on some "used" aircraft, and did not know it!

Hopefully this will point toward additional information.

Just did a air-hotel package through Allegiant Air. (Bellingham to
Vagas)

Excellent service. Very satisfied. Highly recommended.
Friendly staff. Seats aren't too cramped. Apparently they took a few
rows out recently to increase legroom. Seats are leather.

MD-80 series jets.

Mark:

Thanks for all the info. I had never heard of them either, until their marketing campaign here. I haven't booked a flight yet but am looking ahead to my spring vacation. I may just stick with airlines I am more comfortable with for now.
