I'm flying Delta from VA to UT on Sunday and I'm more nervous each day. I have my FOF letter printed out - who do I give it to? I'm flying a 737-800 and it sounds like a really small plane to take across the country. Do smaller planes have a rougher ride or does it even matter once you're up there? The video screens hang from the ceiling intead of being on the back of the seats. Can you even see them or should I take a portable dvd player? I am more afraid of turbulence than anything! Help?!?!

...Enjoy your trip! I assume you're flying into SLC? You'll see some great views while landing. You're RIGHT about that!!! TALL mountains all around, and while you're decending, you are at the same altitude as the top of the mountains...beautiful!

I flew a Delta 737 non-stop from Tampa to SLC in November, about 4-5 hours...longer going out due to head winds. Turbulence happens, but generally it's no big deal...just keep your seat belt on and stay in your seat if the Captain grounds the FAs. Pilots keep adjusting their route to seek smoother air when encountering turbulence.

Have a enjoyable flight!

Thanks for the advice. Yes, we're flying to Salt Lake City - destination Park City to do some spring skiing/snowboarding. I want to be as excited as everyone else who is going but this darned FOF keeps showing it's ugly self. Some days I feel I can conquer it - others I get wimpy. There's really not a whole lot I can do about it - I'm going and that's that. Once I'm in that airplane I'll be at the mercy of the pilots, weather etc. This site is so amazing and I'm glad I found it. Now about that FOF letter - who do I give it to at the airport? Any comments would be appreciated.

The irony here is that what you are going to do at your destination is about 1000+ times more dangerous than flying...going down big mountains at great speeds. Being born as a flatlander, the first time I saw a ski lift I thought, "Oh, S**t! And then, when I looked down the slope from the top of the mountain, I thought the same thing! (mountains always look steeper from the TOP!) Get me down quick and point me to the bar! :)

I think you'll going to love it at Park City...I was only 30 min. from it, but couldn't make the drive up the mountain due to a tight biz schedule.

Push forward and have a great time!!!
