Hi Everyone,
I know I'm :deadhorse
So, I've been talking about taking a flight to Ohio for a while now. I havn't done it yet, but am working towards it. I have now decided to fly Delta because they fly the Embraer 145 and I like smaller planes.
I had another dream, but this one was great! (No flying pigs or anything) I was flying on a normal flight and not bothered in the least!
I can think about booking this flight and not have any worries. I am just waiting for the worry to jump up and say, "BOO, got ya!" If I book this flight it will be my first step in getting to my new job in Hawaii. I just need some words of wisdom and maybe a little of this:pompoms . I am sick of being nervous about being nervous.
What if I loose it on the plane?!?!?! (I've almost done that before) What if I back out, I don't think my FOF or Ego could take that. AHHHHHHHHHHH Thanks for the help and support everyone.

"What if I loose it on the plane?!?!?! (I've almost done that before)"
I think the important word in that sentence is almost. The chances of "losing" it on the plane aren't as great as you think. You might feel nervous, jittery and uncomfortable. But people usually don't lose it. I've had that same exact concern as has many others here. But what I know from my work is how infrequent it is to really have people flip out. I mean even if you get off the plane---that's not "losing it." That's just realizing you're not ready, removing yourself from the situation, regrouping and getting ready to try again. You want a good example of that read Mark's testimonial.
I think that all these things we talk about here really help more than we can imagine. You have techniques, tools and support now. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much that helps.
Try visualizing yourself walking off the plane with pride in yourself instead of seeing yourself running down the aisle screaming. It's a much nicer picture, isn't it? And a more likely scenario.
I'm betting we're going to be reading a report from you saying you did just fine.

Nich,
I know exactly how you feel! I have been there.
Do not worry about completely loosing it up there. If it happens it happens. You will not go running up and down the aisle acting like a crazed idiot. Flight anxiety just does not work that way.
And you are right... backing out, or getting off the plane, just makes it harder for the next try. I played that game with myself several times... thinking that the next time would be "the right time".
Go ahead and book that flight, commit to it, and go!
Take care,
Mark
...to break this to you, but Delta doesn't fly the Embraer 145, at least, not anywhere I'm aware of. The flights into Cincy are almost always CRJs, the Canadair Regional Jet. The other small jet that goes there for Delta is the "FRJ" or Fairchild Regional Jet, which is also called the Dornier 328. It has 1x2 seating and is more comfy than the CRJ to me.

Huey,
You're right. The flight is operated by Chautauqua Airlines Inc. I thought it was Delta because I found it through the Delta web site. They are a regional airline and I believe they also fly for United or US Air.
The flight I am thinking about booking is Delta 6383 TPA to CMH. The Embraer also has the 2 and 1 seating which I like very much. I thought about taking a United (I think) flight that was a CRJ, but it has the 2 and 2 seating and with me, the smaller the plane the better.
Thanks for setting me straight. I would have been SHOCKED to discover, when I got to the airport, that the plane I was booked on was a Chautauqua Airlines Inc plane and not a true Delta plane. I have now researched the regional airline and found them to be safe. What does anyone else think about Chautauqua Airlines Inc?

Chautauqua is a Delta Connection, so the two are basically interchangable. I wouldn't have piped up if I had known you were speaking of Chautauqua.
I had never seen an Embraer in Delta colors, and hadn't seen it listed (and yes, I checked before posting to you) among the fleet of Delta aircraft. Comair and ASA are wholly owned by Delta, so they're planes all show up. Chautauqua isn't, so they don't show up in the fleet numbers, but since they code share....
YOU were correct. I hadn't realized that you had checked the itinerary of your flight before you posted, and had seen the plane type you would have. I thought you wanted a particular plane type, then were working backwards to get it, believing (correctly, as it turns out) that Delta flew them.

Huey,
Does the Chautauqua plane have the same colors as a Delta plane? I have never flown on a connection airline. I assume they have the same standards as Delta...am I right?
I did check several airlines to find the smallest plane I could. (I wish I could fly turboprop because those are my favorites, but I couldn't find any!) I am very happy that you brought this to my attention, otherwise I would have looked like this :shocked when I got to the gate and realized the plane said anything, but plain old Delta!!!

Usually, when a smaller regional carrier codeshares with a major, the planes used have the colors of the major. So yes, in all probability, you will see an aircraft with Delta colors.
The smaller carriers often rely on these codesharing agreements, sacrificing corporate identity for the opportunity to "feed" the big boys, with the major controlling the marketing, etc. The majors also have a vested interest in making sure that maintenance standards are adhered to by the regionals. Also, the regionals are still operating under the regulations of the majors (Federal Aviation Regulations part 121), so they are mandated to have the same standards.
