Hey All,
Looking back on these events, I just have to smile everytime...
This is a something that happened a few years ago, when my girlfriend, my family and I went to Mexico.
For Christmas my grandma got everyone one of those Apple Vaction packages where you get a flight, hotel, meals and even some drinks. With this one we were pretty much with the same people there and back and at the hotel.
I am a pretty chatty person by nature. At the gate I started talking with this guy who looked even more frightened than I was. He was as white as a ghost! I had just started taking pilot lessons and decided to show off my newfound knowledge. I explained how the airplane worked, weather, turb., ect... It all seemed to help him and me, too! The flight there was nothing. It was one of those flights that turn into a real party.:cheers
So, after a week at the resort we all (ghost guy included) get onto the bus to the airport. The sky is BLACK and ghost guy is shaking! Now, turb. doesn't bother me and I told him how it doesn't bother planes either.
I get him all talked down and ready to go. We get on the plane and I see he is holding onto the armrest for dear life. I was sitting across the isle from him and trying to keep him (and myself) occupied.
The pilot comes on the PA and tells us that the flight will be a little bit bumpy (UNDERSTATEMENT). Ghost guy is getting a little worse, but he holds it together for takeoff.
After takeoff we hit a little rough air, but nothing too bad until about 10 min. out. We start bouncing around like crazy and I look over at ghost guy and he looks like this:mg ! Things smooth out for a minute and I say something like, "See, that wasn't so bad..." Just then we drop like a rock. I don't mean a little drop, but something out of movie drop. Ghost guy screams, "OH MY GOD! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!"
Everything went crazy. People on the plane were screaming! The FA's have that classic dear in the headlights look! Thank Goodness we hit clear air long enough for everyone to calm down, otherwise I think the passangers might have stormed the crew!
Everything turned out ok, but I laugh everytime I think of ghost guy screaming and setting everything into motion. It was all like something out of the movies.
