Mark complained that there hasn't been a lot of talk on the board, so here you go, my holiday travel plans and why I am freaking out about them.:shocked

Tomorrow morning, I am leaving Chicago for Pennsylvania (I am so sick of that state by now) for six days. I'm not flying; I'm driving. :beep My boyfriend refused to fly because a) he's embarrassed to fly with me since I don't behave well, b) he has a bunch of crap to haul home and store in his parents' house, c) he doesn't want to have to worry about toting gifts back on a plane and d) although he won't admit it, I think he's scared to fly too. :fly

I will be sitting in a car for 10 hours, driving through stupid cornfields on I-80. :sigh And once I get to Pennsylvania, I'm going to be hauled around to see my family, my boyfriend's family, my friends, my boyfriend's friends...this is the third time I've done this very same thing since the end of September, and I'M JUST TOO TIRED TO DO IT ANYMORE! :cuss

Can you tell I'm not really in the holiday spirit? :cry

You can sing an awful lot of Christmas carols in a car for 10 hours...

:duck

That is a lot of driving. Your boyfriends reasons sound like valid ones - except for "a)", and for that he gets a :nag

I hope your drive is quick and uneventful, and try to have a little bit of fun ;)

Be safe!

Try to make the drive fun!

Decorate the car
Play some music and sing a long
Take a seasonal picnic along with you or arrange a meal in a nice place half way through the journey.
Wrap up some silly small gifts for each other and open one every hour or two.
Relax and unwind. Have a wonderful Christmas

I'll trade ya. I got 'Winter Storm Warnings' all the way down I71 tomorrow. I'm traveling with two kids and a dog. My choices on the radio are either Barney, Wiggles or my hubby's talk radio programs. My dog is spoiled and refuses to sit anywhere but my lap. Which would be fine if I had had the time to trim her nails in the past month. They are like little daggers in my thighs. My oldest has a walnut-sized bladder and will only pee at certain McDonalds along the way. Hubby only drinks coffee from certain BP Expresses. I have a cold and have just booked a flight for March (which I'm quite dreading).

Oh well, if we all make it there in one piece and enjoy time with family, that is really all that counts, right?
