Love hurts, love scars,
Love wounds and marks,
Any heart not tough,
Or strong enough
To take a lot of pain,
Take a lot of pain
Love is like a cloud
Holds a lot of rain
Love hurts, ooh ooh love hurts

http://www.takingflight.us/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif Astronauts wear diapers

From the Washington Post: http://blog.washingtonpost.com/achen...l?nav=rss_blog (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/achenblog/2007/02/astronauts_behaving_badly.html?nav=rss_blog)

Astronaut Behaving Badly, and Other News

Ain't love grand (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/02/06/AR2007020600106.html). Lisa Nowak is from DC and Rockville-- see her NASA bio (http://www.jsc.nasa.gov/Bios/htmlbios/nowak.html). Nice photo, certainly better than the police mug shot. "Nowak raced from Houston to Orlando wearing diapers so she wouldn't have to stop to urinate, authorities said." Crazy? Or a great travel tip? You make the call.
Houston Chronicle goes with the irony lede (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4528881.html):
"Lisa Marie Nowak was accustomed to hard training, prolonged deprivation and a strong sense of mission. But this is not exactly what NASA had in mind when they made her an astronaut."

Well...success will be in the product presentation and marketing....you know...some rocket decorations or something rather than plane white, and a slogan..."Worn by astronauts...so you know you can Depend on them ..." ?? ;) They have to be seen as a "cool" solution for the "GA problem", rather than something only for the elderly incontinent....

Some fools think of happiness
Blissfulness, togetherness
Some fools fool themselves I guess
Theyre not foolin me

I know it isn't true,
I know it isn't true
Love is just a lie,
Made to make you blue
Love hurts, ooh,ooh love hurts
Ooh,ooh love hurts

Yes, as more has come out about this story, I feel so sad for this woman. She made such wonderful accomplishments with her flying career....and now what a tragedy to lose everything over some guy. Not to mention the humiliation of being made the butt of jokes about the diapers. What are the odds of success with that guy now? It does make you wonder about how stressful it would be to have "astronaut" as a career as well as be a mom to 5 yr. old twins. Wonder what kind of support she had at home? I hope this won't make it harder for other women who aspire to become pilots and astronauts.:(

If Depends DID try to capitalize on this espisode...would they make her their spokesperson?

Sad event. Why folks go cuckoo sometimes baffles me!

BTW... What happened to this thread that it is jumbled up at the start?

I'm guessing Aerobat Barb "copied and pasted" my post and Rebecca's post from Hangar talk (under "For Rebecca"...where we were discussing the "GA problem"...no onboard restrooms, and possible solutions), and added them to her post, rather than using the "quote" function.

Not to mention the humiliation of being made the butt of jokes about the diapers.
Not to mention the inadvertant puns. :)

I always thought that song should go,

"Love hurts, love smarts..."

Just because it would rhyme (kinda) AND it sounds funny.

Love hurts, love scars,
Love wounds and mars...

Love dents, love trashes,
Turns hearts to ashes...

It wouldn't be any kinda poem I'd actually sign my name to, but...

That said, I, too, feel sorry for her. She has thrown her career away over a classic love triangle. It's the sort of thing that murder ballads get written about. And it shows that no matter how together and accomplished and secure a person may seem, they may well be fractured underneath. :(

Very sad indeed.

It's the sort of thing that murder ballads get written about. Especially if you're Robert Service.

No ... must resist ...
