I might as well just add my trip report here. My flight into JFK was pretty bumpy coming out of BNA (where it was snowing when we left) and coming into NYC (where it was snowing when we landed). The plane didnt de-ice at BNA but I guess we didnt need it since we made it there just fine. During cruise at one point we broke out of the clouds and were above some nice white clouds. You could see the shadow of the plane with the rainbow around it. So cool - I should have gotten a picture! As soon as we landed at JFK we parked out where the CRJs park and got on a bus to the terminal. It amazed me that as soon as we landed everyone stopped smiling (No kidding here!). My welcome to NYC was quick and I was bumped into about a dozen times walking thru the terminal (didnt hear a single "excuse me" except the ones out of my mouth). It was 11 degrees that nite when I was walking around Times Square (-7 with the wind chill I was told). The snow was blowing and would sting your face. Ah, the North. :sunshine

My sister told me I had to get "in the rhythm of NYC" and once I learned what she meant I loved it. The secret to being in NYC without being run over is to walk with a determined pace and act like you know what you are doing (oh and don't smile - if you do you look like a tourist!!). :kneeslap

I loved NYC and cant wait to go back (preferably when the weather is a tad nicer). :idea

By FAR the highlight of my trip was hanging out with Monica and her daughters on Tuesday nite. We had a blast (or at least I did!). Thanks again Monica (and Emily) for the fab Strawberry Shortcake stuff. Those goodies came out of the suitcase as soon as I got home to make my little redhead ECSTATIC!!! Jenny it was great to meet you and I'll tell Kevin you said hello. ;) :yoohoo

Here is a picture of Monica and her daughter Jenny on the VIP tour bus that took us all over NYC to look at the Christmas lights. I think Monica sat on the aisle so she could be closer to Howie every time he walked up and down the aisle. I'm still shocked at the fact that Mon didn't bid on the chance for Jenny to sit next to Howie at the show (come on, it was only $700).... :cower

I had no clue how long it would take to fly OUT of LGA so I left the city 3 hours before my flight. Once I got to the airport I found out my flight was delayed an hour so I had a lovely layover in the noisy crowded cramped LaGuardia. The direct flight back was bumpy again - we only had the seat belt sign off for about 5 minutes total. I was looking forward to snoozing on the way home but the college student next to me was chatty so I talked (umm listened) to him the whole way home. He mentioned he liked Country Music so I made him listen to 3 Shiloh songs on my Ipod. :band

Its good to be home where the realization that I have NOT finished my shopping has hit me full force. Ugh. I'll be braving the crowds tonite or tomorrow to finish up. :nag

Happy Holidays to everyone! I'm home for 5 days then back on the road (I have to wait until Mark leaves Nashville so I can fly back in.) :D

Kelley --

Thanks for the report! Reading it reminded me of something I have to do on behalf of "we fearfuls". But right now, it's about you and Mon.

First, I'm terribly jealous that I didn't get to meet you -- being one of this board's celebrities and all. But didn't you just LOVE Mon??? I'll tell ya - if this whole world was made up of Fearful Flyers and Caring Captains, we'd be in much better shape than we are now!

Mon -- you let Jen outta the house? You MUST be crazy! Way too pretty -- hmmm - she kinda looks like her Mommy.

Awww, Deb, I want to meet you and :anon too!!! We announce our 2005 tour schedule soon so who knows where I'll end up this year (maybe in a city near you).

I almost forgot this part though - we were sitting at the Improv and one of the comics was talking to an Australian gentleman by the stage and the comic asked the man what he did for a living. He said he was a PILOT! :ray Monica said "GO GET HIM KELLEY!" LOL :rolling

Great report Kelley! Sounds like you girls really had fun. And great picture of Mon, she's exactly the classy lady I envisioned :)

You guys need to get up to Canada. Nobody ever wants to come here :lonely LOL (cos it's too @#%$ cold!)

Anyway, I'm glad you got home for Christmas, too! Did you get your shopping done yet?

Shopping? Well I attempted to do some in NYC - braved Macy's, Toys R Us (the one in Times Square is so big it has a Ferris Wheel inside!) and of course the American Girl place. Abbey is getting another AG doll (I couldnt resist so Kirsten had to ride home in the overhead bin of the CRJ) but I still need to head out tomorrow to buy her toy vanity that she asked for...

How about you, Chelle? Done??

Ill come to Canada in the SUMMER sometime. How about that??

Whoa. Not only does this site cure FOF it feeds one's ego. thanks for all the nice words...
Kelley, I did not sit on the aisle so I could be closer to Howie. It was so I could pat his butt when he walked by...
Kelley, was instantly assigned cool woman status by my kids. They were going on about how nice, cool and funny she was.
It's so nice to meet people that you get to know through here. I've never been on another message board so I don't know if it's usual or not but I feel like this one is an amazing community of interesting people.
Deb, Jenny is my 17 year old. She is a cutie and a happy easy going kid.She was smiling all night long. Now if I could only convince her that driving is over rated and that she should walk everywhere.
Kelley, LaGuardia is awful, isn' it? I figure the good thing about it is that you're so happy to get out of the airport you don't mind getting on the plane...
Once again, thanks for a great day.Mon

OMG, a Toys R Us with a ferris wheel inside, Nikki would just be over the top :D

My shopping is done! I just have a bit of wrapping to do (I'm suffering from wrapaphobia) My nephews and niece are getting money/gift certificates so a couple envelopes to lick :p

Mostly I'm just praying to the snow Gods to cease fire so this city can recover from the state of chaos it's in after today (you'd think we've never seen snow before, sheesh!)

Yes, Mon, LGA is horrid BUT they do have a Chili's!! I parked my butt there with one of those mindless books from the gift shop and ordered a beer (ummm root beer). Funny how those few hours in LGA made me think of a good many of my friends from this board.

Chili's makes me think of Ken. It is "our" place. :hug
Beer (even root beer) makes me think of Jeff. :drunken
Tons of Yankee merch in the gift shop made me think of Janet. :pompoms
Newspapers reminded me of Erika. :coffee
Pilots make me think of Ray. :ray
Scrolling thru my pix on the digital cam made me think of Monica. :type
I sat by myself at a table for 2 at Chili's with plans to tell anyone wanting to take my chair that my :anon was sitting there so I thought of Debbie.
Saw several adorable little dark haired girls so I thought of Beth. :dancers
It was FREEZING cold (like in Canada) so I thought of Chelle. :mountie
There were several English folks around so I thought of Lynda. :ukflag
I was on the phone with Mark during our delay. :tiphat
My flight was on a ComAir CRJ so I thought of Michael. :airplane
The gate next to me had a SONG flight heading to Orlando so I thought of Scott! :mickey

3 1/2 hours in LGA will do that to the brain. :wired

Missed you all!
Kelley
