But I am here... not much to tell about the trip... we took off, flew around and then landed in Nashville a couple of hours later.
I was a bit anxious on the way to the airport, as I had not flown in a while. But once I got in the routine, everything was fine.
All the airport personal, gate agents, etc were VERY busy, and the airport was crowded. Jeez... I was GLAD to get on a plane and get out of that mess!
Took off to the west, out over the pacific, made a wide turn back to the east and came over Long Beach and the Queen Mary.
Came over the Cleveland National Forrest (mountains) and we got into turbulence, and stayed in it till we were out of California. The seatbelt sign stayed on for about an hour as we bounced around. So I guess I did not avoid the winds after all.
But I was quite proud of myself. I just remembered everything everyone had said. I had Ray's book and re-read a few sections on turbulence... while in turbulence. I just rode along with it. Made photos, listened to Van Halen on my new MP3!!. But my bladder was about to pop! Finally it smoothed out, and the seatbelt sign went out. But I was more happy that I could use the loo more than the turbulence itself. Again... I am very happy with the way I handled it.
After a snack, I even slept for about an hour. The rest of the flight was very smooth. Landed in Nashville where it was partly cloudy and spitting snow.
The bad parts??? When I was taking my seat a mother told me that I may not want to sit there unless I had good headphones. That her child was very active, and she suggested that if I did sit there to not put my seat back, as he has been immobile for four hours, and may want to spread his wings.
My reaction??? I told this lovely person that I really like children, it was parents who had problems ensuring their children behaved that I had a problem with!
Sure enough, while in flight this Kid began kicking my seat. I turned around looked the young man in the eye, and said... "would you please not kick my seat." From that point on... no problem. See... All he needed was a little suggestion!
The other problem is that it is colder that a witch's you know what! YIKES... I could have sat in my freezer at home and saved money!
Yes... I made photos... So I will post them on return.
Glad to know that I still got it. What a difference from a year ago!
Oh... Met the pilots... Great people. The Captain knew Ray. I will get his name Ray and will email it to you. He had a message for you! ha ha.
The aircraft was a 737-300, I asked about an older plane for this route, and it was obvious they had no problem with it. The Captain said... "What! have we spoiled you with the 700s?" From the cabin there was no way in knowing! She got me to Nashville all safe and sound!
