I have the "Katie Couric" scheduled for tomorrow morning.

Up until a couple of days ago I was freaking out. I thought I would go to a hospital where a bunch of unknown doctors and nurses were going to poke at me and do ... their stuff.

Then I get a call from my own gastroenterologist (which I know, he's been our doctor for a few years). He's a nice guy and he says that he is the one to perform the procedure personally.

All of a sudden I felt about 1000 times better. Now I am NOT scared of the procedure. Isn't that silly?

The procedure is the same and would have been the same no matter who would have performed it. But I can't help feeling so relieved that it's going to be someone I know to do it.

Regardeless, now I am worried about the prep (I am in the middle of it :( )

If I don't worry about something I will worry about something else.

The good news? the anticipatory anxiety was at an historical minimum. It flared badly only for an hour yesterday.

Yes I did use the "techniques" I used to calm myself down before a flight. Somehow this FOF stuff is helping me a lot in many other aspects of my life.

Right, now I've returned to this post once I'd finished eating (Marco! :fuming: ) ... good luck for tomorrow, you will be absolutely fine!

What with this and Kelley's organ removal, we could have a "Disgusting Medical Procedure of the Week" thread ...

Eating ... count yourself blessed. You can eat. I cannot.

I am STARVING!!!

I would kill for some eggplant parm lasagna. Thing is ... don't think my doc would like MY eggplant part too much tomorrow morning.

:rotflmao:

Har har!! I crack myself up.

Speaking of which ... any "ass-jokes" I can crack tomorrow you guys and gals might suggest?

I want to see if I can gross the doctor out.

Before the procedure of course ... I don't think I'd be in a "jesting" mood afterwards ... :mg:

One more thing ... I CAN'T WAIT for people to ask me how my weekend was when I get back to work on Tuesday!!!

:D:D:D

Good luck, Marco!

You'll be up and eating soon. I just finished a pumpkin muffin top from Atlanta Bread - that feat in itself would have been impossible just a few days ago!

Jokes? Oh, man ... ...you do NOT want to Google "proctologist jokes." Believe me, you do NOT.

On the other hand, best to get any laughing out of the way ahead of time ...
We'll be thinking of you, Marco!!!!

...I don't think I'd be in a "jesting" mood afterwards ... :mg: ...Believe it or not, you will. After the IV meds wear off, you'll feel normal real soon! Remember, I've been there 3 times before...the worst part is today. However, I'm surprised you're able to write such long posts now. :D

Glad you didn't "back" out of this preventive life-saving procedure. Pass on the courage to others when they are in your situation!

Have an uneventful procedure and diagnosis....we'll be thinking about you tomorrow! :grouphug:

Back out?? No way Jose! We are the FOF Team! We don't back out!! EVER!

:D

Yes I did it. I am out and you are right, I am in a jesting mood. Dang, I have never been happier in my life!!

Well ... the prep was just obscenely awful. I have no other way to describe it.

The procedure ... what procedure?

He found a couple of things that don't cause cancer (not going into details here ... http://www.thepilotlounge.com/yaf/images/emoticons/pukey.gif ) and he pulled out a small polyp (when he showed it to me in the photographs I almost laughed. It was tiny and cute as a kitten. I wouldn't have been able to tell it for a polyp if it had come out of my ass and introduced itself to me as such).

When I asked him if I had cancer he literally collapsed on the floor laughing histerically.

He told me that some polyps are pre-cancerous and some others are not. If this is not pre-cancerous then he doesn't need to see me again until I am fifty. If this is pre-cancerous then I need to do this again 5 years from now. That's about it.

Bottom line (as far as I understand it): I have nothing that would cause cancer, require further surgery or need medication.

oh yeah baby!!

I am glad I did it and other than the day before, there's nothing bad about this. Hell ... this beats cancer! sign me up for another one five years from now!! No problemo!!
