My trip report is on the reports page. It was fabulous.

Never mind, I spent 20 inutes writing a trip report and then ezboard dropped it, telling me i had logged in with the wrong password. i'm not doing it again - what a pain - but my trip was great. i wasn't scared, SWA was great, I looked outthe windoe a lot - and I hardly took any drugs. I'll write more about it when i'm less frustrated by the computer thing. All is well

Alright Spiff!!!

Glad the trip went better than the trip report.

Little hint... what I do on long posts like trip reports is to do it on Word, or Works, then when it is done, I paste and copy it into Ezboard.

Ezboard never fails to act up when you put a bunch of time into something!

Good job on the flights!

Mark

That's great Spiff! I'd love to hear more about it when you feel like writing about it again.

Spiff, i had the same @#%$ problem when I tried to post your flight as I was tracking you. How did spiff 2 enjoy the flight?
Glad to hear it went so well. Have a great holiday and write more when you don't want to kick the computer. Monica

Spiff(s),

I told you it would be no big deal. Congrats!

(I have lost about five hours of my life after losing stuff on EZ To Trash Your Posting Board. I do what Mark says, I write 'em on word now.)

Welcome home.

Joanne’s trip report

I had intended to write this all down when it was fresher in my mind, but I had technical difficulties with EZBoard and my post got erased. Here is Try #2.

We flew Prov-BWI-Birmingham on Tuesday the 21st. It was 5 degrees when we left the house at 4:15 am for our 6:20 flight. When we got to the airport, we were third in line for the Southwest counter (this was my first SWA trip). We waited there for about 40 minutes until the Southwest guys came in at 5:15. By then a substantial group had amassed behind us. I didn’t really mind waiting (though I would have slept longer, had I known), but Duncan chose that moment to tell me he thought SWA had “slipped” the last couple of times he had flown them (lateness, lines, etc). Never say anything – even vague – that’s negative about flying to a FF right before a trip. After I finished going bonkers on him, he was like, “Forget I said that. Rewind.” Anyway, we got off to the gate around quarter of six (after my bags got searched ). I saw both pilots go through on their way in to inspect the plane. Neither looked mentally ill, so I decided I didn’t need to meet them. (Monica…I’m just KIDDING! I know “looking mentally ill” is a meaningless comment). I was REALLY tired after only five hours sleep and a xanax. Minor victory though – I was able to fall asleep the night before with no difficulty (my routine up to now has been .5 mg the night before to sleep and .5 for the flight).

We got on the plane and I did my usual close-my-eyes-and-count-to-200 routine for takeoff. Around 50, though, something happened. I opened my eyes. The ground was already so far away. It was kind of amazing. I closed them, but then opened them again. I only made it to about 65. The rest of the time, I watched.

The flight was VERY smooth, which helped – but I noticed my thinking was different about the whole experience. Like, once we hit some minor turbulence and I looked out at the wing and saw it sort of bouncing a little. Instead of thinking OH MY GOD THE WING IS ABOUT TO FALL OFF AND I MUST INFORM SOMEONE, I just thought, Oh, isn’t it cool that the structure of the plane is so strong that it can withstand even much greater stress than this…And when we landed at BWI and 9,000 people got on the formerly almost empty place for the second leg, instead of thinking OH MY GOD THE PLANE WILL BE TOO HEAVY AND PLUMMET TO THE GROUND ON TAKEOFF, I thought, Well, the pilots are up there doing new weight calculations, and that’s that. The plane we flew on looked new and had beautiful navy-blue leather ergonomic seats. I think it was a 737-700. The second takeoff, I looked almost the whole time.

We’ve been here a week and I’m not even tripping about the return flight yet. But listen to this – I have a conference in Florida in Feb that I’m going to alone, and for a variety of reasons, I had planned to drive. Now I think I might fly….it seems so much easier…

Joanne, you earned that sucessful trip.
i'm writing from the Cape right now with snow flying past the window and 45 mile an hour winds howling. Book that flight to Florida. You'll be fine and glad you did it.:hamster

Congrats Spiff. Sounds like you did really well on your flight. This was the first time that I have kept my eyes open on a takeoff too so I really appreciate the accomplishment you feel.

Have you heard about SWA's early check in? You can go online starting at midnight the day of the flight and check in for your "A" boarding pass. It is really convenient. We did it this time and used the self help check-in/baggage check and completely bipassed all the lines and were the second group to get on the plane. Definitely a good way to go!

Enjoy your flight back!

Chris
