To be fair, there usually arn't any signs saying you shouldn't do this:

Woman puts baby through airport x-ray (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061220/ap_on_fe_st/x_ray_baby)

I noticed that article too...what I don't understand is this:

"The infant was taken to a local hospital, where doctors determined he did not receive a dangerous dose of radiation."

Is there some sort of test for that? Or did they just consult with the doctors? What would they have done if it had been determined to be dangerous? How much did it cost the parents for that trip to the hospital? Or did the airport pick up the tab? Enquiring minds need to know.

I'll bet that woke up the TSA person watching the monitor.

Yes. You put the baby in a crib with a frozen burrito for three minutes and see what happens.

Perhaps she had dropped him outside the airport and didn't want to waste time taking him to the hospital to see if he had any broken bones when there was a perfectly good x-ray machine right there.

What I like the best about this story is that it was the woman's grandson. You know her daughter-in-law or son-in-law (whatever the case) is now saying to his or her spouse, "that woman is not allowed to come over anymore."

Okay....it didn't take a doctor to determine that it wasn't a dangerous dose of radiation...duh. It's an x-ray. We x-ray babies when they get dropped on their heads and stuff. It's allowed.

That's pretty much what I figured. I'm sure there are TSA employees who've stuck their hands in there to see what they look like being x-rayed. Wouldn't you think they would already know the answer as to whether or not it was dangerous??? Maybe they just wanted to be extra sure they didn't get sued by the parents...
