Ooooh, good luck Jeff!
This year... I resolved not to make any resolutions, therefore I will not disappoint myself in 2005 :D

You can do it Jeff! I smoked from age 13 to 24. Just had my 7 year non-smoking anniversary on 1/2. I chewed the gum for a few days until the cravings stopped and then went cold turkey.
Good Luck...let me know if you need support. I have been there and am much much much happier not smoking.
I resolved to get more organized and fly to Chicago for my wife and to see the Giants play at Wrigley (she has family there but we have never been able to go because of my FF).

HOOOOOOOOORAY JEFF!!!!!
Do yourself a favor. Keep track of how much $$$ you would be spending on cigarettes and sock it away in a separate account (I bet it will add up to LOTS of Teppenyaki dinners). At the end of the year take the money you WOULD have spent on cigarettes and buy something FUN for yourself (NASCAR tickets perhaps???).
Congrats! My mother-in-law quit cold turkey on my youngest daughter's 3rd birthday after almost 47 years of smoking 2 packs a day. That was over 3 years ago and her house STILL reeks of smoke (from the carpets, furniture, etc...) so do yourself a favor and wash the walls, clean the carpets and upholstery and air out the house. You'll all feel much better!

Jeff --
Good for you! I was a two-packer from the time I was in my late teens through only 5 years ago. Math - hmmm - that'd be 30 years! Holy crap!
Anyway, I quit cold turkey about 5 years ago. I've gained roughly 15 pounds that i CAN'T seem to shake, but I'll keep 'em, thanks. Feel like a million bucks!
C'mon, jeff. We can support more than FFing here!
Tell you what. If you're still off 'em By the Time We Get to Phoenix, I'll buy you the first drink Deal??

Jeff,
Congratulations!! I also quit around 25 years ago!!! Cold Turkey is the way to do it!
Not easy but really worth it in the end.
You will have good days and bad days, learn to laugh about the bad days. There were times that I could gladly have picked up a thrown ciggerette end off the floor!!!
Keep busy! and most of all don't ever smoke again!
I put money in a pot each time I would normally buy cigs and it actually paid for lots of nice things!
Good luck!

Jeff,
Thank you.
If there is some good coming out of Scott's death it is things like that.
:)

I put cash into a drawer every day that I would normally use to buy cigs. After 6 months I had enough cash to take a trip to Vegas! It is amazing to see the amount you spend.
