I was thinking the other day (Yea dangerous) that conquering my FOF has helped me in other areas.

NOTE: Conquering FOF does not mean that I am not anxious about flying, it just means that I do it (fly) anyways.

I think that it has helped me. Not to brag, but I feel a bit more confident in other areas of my life. When I have a nagging task that I dread, I learn to take it on a bit at a time till I have accomplished my goal.

I guess the real question is... Do you use the tools and skills you have learned combating the FOF in other areas in your life?

Great post!

And, yes, definitely. I would NEVER have considered going on an elevator more than 7 stories up. (This past June, I took the elevator up to the top of the Stratosphere in Vegas - 120 stories, I think??)

Then -- Trains - nope. No way. No can do. Now -- Yep, sure, where do you wanna go??

Then -- Staying in a high-rise hotel. Not me. No way, babe. Now, absolutely.

And, of course, flying. Then - Not me!! Don't even ask! Now: Sure, what's the fare and is there a layover at a good airport??

Yeah, definitely, Mark. I think that a flying fear is just so very big, that once you've realized you can and will conquer that, everything else just "happens" nicely.

Next??

Deb

PS -- Wait'll you see me go on the Rustler's Rooste slide!!!:wired

Like I posted in my long-winded rant about the Ohio turnpike over Christmas, I do use my skills in other areas. I let myself know that whatever is bothering me is out of my control and that I'll get through it if I just stay calm and take it one thing at a time.

Absolutely! I feel almost powerful when I step off a plane - like "HA! I DID IT AGAIN!". Good thing because most of the time I step off a plane and go straight to work with my self confidence brewing over!
