I've always wanted to go to Chicago. Never had the chance. Would be a short flight for us. Hmm...just wish it would be during fall break or something. I take off with Don so much for trips, I'm embarrassed.

Yes, please can it be then? That way I can tie it in with something else. I think.

Oh, you will. You owe me for only having a short period of time to line dance with me at ORD next month.

Andrea and I spoke about this fest tonight. Her family is out that way and we could fly in with the new baby at that time. Stay at her parents (Bloomington, IL.)a week and then in Chicago for the fest. We could burn up that Delta Ireland credit we have and it would not cost us much. Put us down for 5 maybe's. 2 adults, 3 kids. Holy crap. My son will be 17 by then!

Anyway, Erika (based on past fests, holidays, etc.) and I came up with October 27th.

I thought that was the date?

Ahem...ahem...so are we on the schedule for the last weekend in October? I'm getting ready to talk up my hometown's fest, but I want to make sure I have the right dates to hassle people about.

I really want to go to the one in Chicago and bring the kids but that is right after our Fall trip to Disney so I'm not sure I will have the funds. Keeping my fingers crossed. I already have a cute airplane outfit for the bambino to wear for Flightfest!!

Erika -- Yup. As a matter of fact, I've got some unused AA miles that I'm planning to use to get there, and because I love to plan way in advance, I think I'll just go ahead and book this weekend.

My plan is to come in on Friday (26th) and leave late afternoon Sunday.

Lemmeno what you want me to do.

Deb

Yes. Yes yes yes. Yes indeed.

Can I go and stalk pilots in Chicago please????????????

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

Debbie, thanks for the PM with the deets on what to plan. As soon as I'm back from my honeymoon, I am beginning to market this hard core. :boxer:

In the meantime, everybody buy your tickets to Chicagofest so I don't have to market all that hard. :)

Ooooh like the kind from the mall? I like the Double Doozies - the small ones with the white frosting in the middle. YUM!

I'm way ahead of schedule here.

Got my air for ORDfest. Big sales going on, kids. Take advantage!!!

I prefer to think of it as MDWfest.

I don't know why it took me so long to find the info about the MDWfest, but count me in! It'll be an easy hop from IND to MDW.

Do we know any other details yet? Like where things are happening/closest places to stay and the like? I'm nerdy about making all my arrangements early. :)

I admit, I've been lazy about figuring that stuff out. There are no formal arrangements thus far. As soon as I get a chance to catch my breath, I'll get cracking!

As our Chicago expert (Hala Kahiki) you should definitely be the one (Hala Kahiki) to decide. Don't let anyone sway you (Hala Kahiki) toward any particular (Hala Kahiki) thing.

Me? I'm neutral.

There used to be an airplane theme restaurant here in Chicago, but it closed down. Otherwise, that would totally be where we'd go.

Hala Kahiki's in the west suburbs, Jeff. Blech. :shakehead

Don't you want to go somewhere Chicagoey?

Dangit! That was subliminal. You guys weren't supposed to consciously see any of it.

For the record, however, Tiki knows no season nor place. It's always appropriate.

(Okay then, the Green Mill? Odyssey cruise? Second City? Pizza? Ummm... Oprah?)

I think you all should get Oprah to do a show about FoF and get on her show...that would be intense! She could bring in all sorts of flying experts and such and it would be a superb way to get attention for the site.

OK, so that most likely won't happen, but it would be cool to flip on Oprah and see Capt. Ray, Mark, and all the regulars here.

So what goes on at these FlightFest's anyway? Or is the first rule of FlightFests not to talk about FlightFests? :D

I have flown through Chicago a couple times this year, but haven't had a chance to visit the city. I have some friends that come from Chicago and swear by the city. All I know is DAAAA BEEEEARS and DAAA BULLLLLLS are there (as well as da' Cubs and some NHL team)

I am looking for another trip to go on and meeting new people is always a hobby of mine!

What happens at FlightFest stays at FlightFest ;) except for what gets documented, photographed, and posted on various threads in the Flight Fest Forum. :D
