Hello everyone!
Well it is almost here, next sat. 11/04 I'm flying to Swizerland to see my family. I have been preparing for this flight for a long time. The anticipatory anxiety is killing me. I actually went for one hypnosis session, it helped me greatly. I am still nervous though, I will be glad when I land in Zurich!!!:)
I am trying to think positive, today was a good day... I don't know about tomorrow it is so up and down and this is exactly what I don't like about the anxiety.
Cheers,
Aurora

If I have learned anything since the passing of my father...it is the pure and simple fact that you can die in the safe confines of your own home just as well as you can die on a plane.
I took a leave of absence at work and Don and I may fly somewhere for a few days pre-Asheville/Anniversary trip. I need some time to think and clear my mind and can think of no better way to do it than to head out for awhile.
This has all given me time to pause and re-evaluate, and I just know that no matter how safe you think you are or how safe you play it, when it is your time to go, that's it...no matter where you happen to be.

Got a call today from the Apocalypto post-production supervisor and they want me to come back to LA for Nov 3 and 4. Haven't booked yet (we're playing phone tag) but I expect to do that tomorrow, and to take the same SWA flights out and back that I have taken recently, leaving Austin at 5PM on Nov 2 and departing LA at 12:50-ish to return to Austin on Nov 5. THIS time...I am gonna take a full rack of aeronautical sectionals and pinpoint those volcanoes and sports car test tracks and secret alien bases and the other weird stuff  out there in that lonely desert.
I imagine business travelers--Leslie, f'rinstance, when she lived in Phoenix and flew to Denver all the time--must get pretty ho-hum about flying the same route again and again over a short interval. I had never done this on airliners until recently. But I refuse to be normal, no way. :nono:

Me! Sunday, STN-BLK on Ryanair. I hope.
I'm scared of the cabin crew. Last time I flew on an Irish airline, the famous Irish charm was rather less in evidence
My parents.. they are flying to Orlando next week.. GRRR !! I am so envious !!!
My next flight will be in April for the MAN fest.

I'm flying next month - ON Thanksgiving. I'm kind of hoping they pass out some special holiday snacks. Perhaps turkey-shaped crackers??

Never been to Amarillo. Haven't heard anything great about it. But it's not like I will be seeing anything other than the airport anyway.

...Mark, Are you going through ATL on Monday?Hi Ken, no...this is a non-stop flight from TPA to SLC. From sunny to cold...wouldn't mind, but it's a biz trip with a lot to do in a short time frame.
Hope you have a good week!
Mark

Doing a general aviation flight next week or the week after - doesn't really count, but I enjoy the views. When I graduate I hope to take a real trip somewhere.

What?!?
There's the Big Texan (http://www.bigtexan.com/), home of the free 72oz. steak! Be sure to have the free limo (complete with steer horns) pick you up at your hotel. Remember, the 72oz. steak is only free if you eat it in an hour. You would be shocked how many of Charity's sorority sisters managed to do that.
Palo Duro Canyon (http://www.palodurocanyon.com/), a little-known but very beautiful red-rock canyon, is just south of Amarillo. If you're there in season, they do a really neat outdoor musical, Texas (http://www.heritageent.com/).
There's also the world-famous Cadillac Ranch (http://www.roadsideamerica.com/attract/TXAMAcadillac.html).
Yeah, that's about it.
We had a 2 hour layover until we had to make our turn and come back to Houston. The crew considered going to the Texan, but we opted for a restaraunt right outside of the dinky airport. I did see the Palo Duro Canyon from the aircraft. It's beautiful.
Also, I saw my first TUMBLEWEED. I didn't know that they really exist.
I am in love with this job.

I've got business to do in the Beaumont area. I should be back in IAH on Thursday evening. Are you staying at the IAH Marriott? I kind of doubt it since you said it was stinky. However, that Marriott is aging. I think I'm at the Marriott Courtyard that night.
Holiday Inn Intercontinental. I spend the majority of my time in the bar.

Flew tonite. Barely. This one warrants a trip report.
Sean - you may be on to something. I would love a TumbleTree for Christmas. Or maybe a TumbleTree snowman...
Here we go! I have endured possibly the longest check in line I ever saw, the very strict security (how can it be "random check" when it's always me? .... and do they really have to feel around your cleavage like that? Gerroff! She was particularly aggressive about it as well, so I burst out laughing .... not a good thing to be doing.) I am now sitting around waiting for something to happen. Zzzzz ....
Is that the best Ryanair can do for a pilot? Am most disappointed.
Come back, BA. All is forgiven :fuming:
