Well, tonight's the night...I'm going to attempt my first flight in twenty years...I'm leaving from LAX at 11:30pm. When everyone is counting down to the new year, I'll be counting the minutes until takeoff.

So, the big question is, will I get on that plane? After reading Mark's ordeal of getting on and off, I realize that that may be more pyschologically stressful than just doing the boarding once and getting it over with. So, I'll keep Mark's experience in mind when the time comes.

Hopefully, I'll have a trip report for everyone! Thank you all so much for your support, because without this board, I know for certain, I would be driving three, long, hard days to North Carolina instead of a 5 hour ride in the sky.

Hollywood!

DO NOT GET OFF!!!

You do not want to do that to yourself! It is truly awful!

MUCH MUCH MUCH worse than ANY flight I have ever been on!

I will be near a computer, and will track you at the start. Also if you want, or think you may need to call for encouragement, email mark@takingflight.us. I will give you my number.

But... Go, get on, and stay on!

You will be fine... PROMISE!

Thanks for the encouragement Mark and Lynda! I really think I'm going to do this. I just need to get this first flight over with! I think the waiting is the worst part.

Hey Lynda, just an fyi, I work for Disney, so I like your user name!

I'll log onto this message board sometime tomorrow and let you all know that I did it. (hopefully)

Hollywood,

I have managed to do the trip to Disney around 12 times UK to Florida!! That's how I know it can be done.

If you haven't left for the airport yet, good luck! You'll be great; if you just get yourself on the plane, the hardest part is over!

(That's when you get to turn it over to the pilots, whose part is actually much easier than ours when you think about it).

Hey Hollywood!

Good luck with your flight. LAX is great (just allow TONS of time for security). I love the view of the Pacific as we take off and head over the ocean then turn back around towards land. The water is the most incredible blue/greenish color. Sigh.... I miss Cali!

By the way, I was a Cast Member at WDW for 7 1/2 years (working mainly in film and tv at the Studio). :mickey Right now I work for 2 former Mouseketeers! :) It's a Small World, After All. What do you do for the Mouse?

Hey Kelley!

I work for the studio on the backlot. I'm the studio production coordinator. I am the liaison between features and tv productions on the lot. Great job! I love Disney!

What did you do on the lot?

My, it really IS a small world after all!

PS
I got my wings! Flew to NC and back this past week. Still keep pinching myself as I can't believe I did it! whoohoo! Just got in late last night and will post a journal sometime over the weekend.

How Cool! I was at the Florida Studio (Disney-MGM) from right after it opened until 1993. Before that I worked over in EPCOT in park operations for a couple of years. LOVED IT and miss it.

One of my good friends has an office on the CA lot - she works in the Sales Dept for Hollywood Records. I drive by the Cali lot all the time when I am in town. The band I work with does radio promos at KZLA right there on Olive so we pass the Studio each time we go (love the seven dwarves building).

CONGRATS on your flight!!!! Post trip details!
